HRA'S Dilemma With Owed Taxes to the City of New Britain

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

With the Mayor of New Britain getting himself directly involved with erasing twenty five years of the current and future taxes owed by HRA, a sum approximately in excess of 5.5 Million dollars.

The city's tax collector, Cheryl S. Blogoslawski, has the elected authority to declare the Mayor's action and that of Council members, that voted for the forgiving of HRA'S twenty five years of taxes, illegal.

It is her sworn duty for her to take immediate action.

  1. Didn't she win the last election by only 6 votes? Sounds like a career that might be coming to an end in November, unless she thinks that such endorsement of the radical policies of the O'Brien administration won't cost her at least 6 Republican votes?

  3. I guess Cheryl is counting on the Democrats voting for her over whatever commie the Dems will likely run against her?

  4. Cheryl got into politics on her late sister's tragic death. Now, let her prove herself in her own right or resign and live on her wealthy father's money!

  5. I knew Linda and with all due respect, in my opinion Cheryl is no Linda.

Because se holds the only office that has the power to erase the loss of an excess of 5.5 millions of dollars for our city over the next twenty five years

She hasn't filed the necessary paper work to end the Mayor's fiasco to date.

You mean in excess of 5.5 Million dollars during the 25 yr. period.

  13. isn't that called pandering to the left?

  14. Cheryl was asked?ordered by O'Brien not to place a lien on the HRA properties. She has knuckled under. Too bad! Six votes or six hundred, she is not a subservient of the Mayor or his Deputy C.O.S. Cheryl should do what is right and what she was elected to do ... FILE THE LIEN! She'll win more votes with that action than if she sucks up to O'Brien/Sherwood.
Have Alderman Brown and his Community Organizer wife paid their taxes. In not, have their stipends been attached?

Are the police looking the other way re the out of state vehicle that is parked continuously in front of O'Brien's house?

  15. The sad thing is that this HRA deal is truly small potatoes compared to the drunken spending spree Tim O'Brien is on right now.

He's going to add at least $50 million in new debt, and its only a year and a half in.

Imagine how much the guy is going to cost us in the big picture.

People better wake up, or our taxes are going to skyrocket and pit property values are going to plummet.

  16. If you are referring to the car with the New York plates, you should be asking why the tax assessor isn't pursuing the taxes for it being garaged in New Britain for more than 30 days.

  17. you mean the one that is usually illegally parked while the police do nothing?

  18. All Cheryl's opponent needs to do I think is to promise to allow the constables to do the job they were elected for by issuing them tax warrants to serve.

  19. Why not put a NY plate on your car since NY doesn't have car taxes?
