Dear Editor:

Do you read the New Britain Herald? I only receive one daily paper now so, I rely on it for New Britain news. On page 22 of today’s Herald, in the Classified Section, there were two items of interest to me; 1. a “Mayor’s Warrant” to the “Clerk of The City of New Britain” (doesn’t say whether it’s the Town Clerk or Clerk of the Common Council) and, 2., a CITY OF NEW BRITAIN LEGAL NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING. If you don’t know, special meetings do not allow public participation. The meeting call was for a meeting to take place on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 6:30 P.M. Reading the call, one learns immediately that it was to be a bonding meeting. I recall from my experience as a Council member that a 48 hour notice is required for such a meeting. Such was not the case. So’ I called a Council Member who said, “... you know more about it than I do, I haven’t received a notice yet.” By the way, I have heard that the meeting will take place on Thurs., 6/27. Reading further, I found that most of what was to be approved was bonding for “FLUFF” items, park projects like swimming pools and War Memorials renovation projects; these are all nice projects to talk about in a reelection year, but certainly not important to most taxpayers. ONE OF THE ITEMS, #23, CALLED FOR BONDING $2MILLION FOR THE “WASHINGTON ST. POOL PROJECT!” DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS A CITY POOL ON WASHINGTON ST.? THERE IS NOT!! Get a copy of today’s Herald, see for yourself. Does anybody in O’Brien’s Administration know anything about New Britain geography or the Parks and Recreation Budget that our illustrious Council passed overwhelmingly? Obviously not! What a bunch of incompetents. Evidently, the Herald is not required to proof read material given to it by O’Brien. A number of taxpayers and Herald readers have written and talked about the unintelligent O’Brien Administration. Does anyone need any more proof? How will you vote in November? Lou Salvio

  1. These idiots elected a governor who can't read, so why not a mayor too?

Ineptocracy_****(in-ep-toc’-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.
