Too bad she did it with the help of a gun hater that doesn't support the Constitution.
For those candidates who think of the opposition as a bunch of gun nuts to be ignored, maybe you should listen for a minute to what your former state chairman, Chris Healy had to say on the subject:
"But there are two larger numbers that every Democrat should fear – 200,000 the total number of gun permits statewide and 8,619 – the number of card carrying members of the CCDL, 390 alone over the last two weeks."
Even though Mr. Healy was talking about Democrats, this same concern should resonate with any Republican that would align himself with a gun hater like McKinney.
O'Brien is going to out raise Erin because he has been using taxpayer money for payoffs to politically connected people like Roy Occhiogrosso. He has cut backroom deals with people, like his democrat crony who owns Pebblebrook. He's made this massive bonding deal to buy votes from the teachers union - that alone is over $23 million worth of vote buying.
Erin's support is coming from New Britain citizens - the people who can actually VOTE - I don't expect her to raise nearly as much money as O'Brien who is getting most of his money from people not even in the city.
No one said that was all she raised. It just said she raised that much that night. LOL. All that really counts is the number of votes she gets. And it will be more than O'Brien.
Whether O'Brien got a head start or not is not relevant. It's not like election balance the playing field...
The fact the Erin brags about raising that amount of money in one event is telling....you should raise that much in one event. Especially one billed as high ticket with movers and shakers. O'Brien had just two events when they reporter they had raised some $50,000. I also hear O'Brien wanted to pick up the pace of his fundraising!!!! What does that tell you? Unfortunetly it tells me Erin isn't yet ready for the big leagues and might not be setting appropriate goals. Again, if you be outpaced, heads start or not, where you do see the value of bragging about raising so much less that the other guy...again.
And I still, for the record, have not got a single ask for money for her campaign.
Somehow you keep trying to make this about Erin somehow failing or not being up to the challenge.
What you keep trying to cover up is that O'Brien is getting his money from outside New Britain, from wealthy democrats who are politically connected.
Erin will be out raised - but her supporters are not financially wealthy democrats - they're the local citizens who are being ruined by O'Brien's insane financial policies.
The real problem is that most of us in the city want O'Brien OUT. He has been the worst mayor in history, No question about that.
This last time around, Mark Bernacki, an outstanding candidate lost to this buffoon. He chose not to run again.
The problem is that the RTC could not find a better candidate than Bernacki. There was not a candidate as experienced as Mark Bernacki. I do not blame him for not running again.
So, you put up a 26 year old, still mostly living at her parents' home.
Her BOE experience shows that she voted to bond books, not a good thing. She has zero administration or leadership positions. Are we to vote for her because we do not like O'Brien. I would have voted for her father. Why did he not run again?
Also, why does he see the need to spend our tax money to hire 2 more staff members in his office for the last 2 months of his term in office? Sounds like an act of extreme desperation to me.
um...that makes her about $50,000 behind..there should be no brag about those numbers.

Yea, O'Brien has had like 7 months to raise $50,000 and Stewart is supposed to catch up in one night.... be a little more ignorant commenter #1.

I would guess that most of O'Brien's money is coming from unions and from other radical organizations.

Dare I ask?
What are we to do? I will not vote for O'Brien.
If O'Brien has such a cakewalk of a re-elect, why does he feel the need to "pick up the pace of his fundraising" to use your own words?

ReplyDeleteMark Bernacki would be a great mayor. I'm disappointed he didn't run as well.
ReplyDeleteBut at the end of the day, it comes down to Erin or O'Brien.
That's not a hard choice, even if Erin may not be the perfect candidate.
At least she's not corrupt and narcissistic, or stealing taxpayer's money to buy votes and make payoffs with.
