Mayor Erin Stewart
called state of the city financial situation in a Crisis in her state of the
City address. She received constant
resistance form the Democratic leadership for reducing the million dollars of
Bonding she was advised to so by the bonding advisors hired by the city’s
common council.
With the persistence
of Aldermen Robert Smedley, Jamie Giantonio, Wilfredo Pabon, Louis Salvio,
Daniel Salerno, Don Naples and Carlo
Carlozzi, Jr. fighting against the democratic leadership lead by Michael
Trueworhty together with his Democratic minions with their defeatus approach
against the Mayor’s attempt to place the city back onto the right track.
With all the
nerve in the world Alderman Trueworhty rose to warn that he will oppose the vital
vote that would cause a State takeover of the city’s finances like occurred to
Bridgeport and Waterbury as though he was warning his followers to do the same.
So they followed with Aldermen DeFronzo, Platosz, voting with
Trueworthy and not acting in the best interest of the city that their oath dictates
for them to act.
These Democrats
need to be replaced by the voters in the next election however, the mayor
should exercise her veto powers to apposed the Democratic retention of their favorite
four million bond for the Chesley park and Washington park swimming pools along with any other bonds they retained in order
to place our financial crises in its right order as Alderman Giantonio stated “
it will gives us the time to work out to resolve our problems.”
