Hopefully the lenders will continue funding this project...downtown New Britain needs new businesses, and having more residential units will help the retail and restaurant businesses thrive. This will be a shot in the arm for downtown.
It's a pipe dream! The first 3 months of this year marked a historic number of businesses moving out of Connecticut for Southern states, taking their jobs with them. This was the highest number of businesses leaving the state in any quarter since they have been keeping records.
The attraction--lower business taxes!
So who in their right mind would open a new business in New Britain, when they can do it in Georgia, Texas, South Carolina, and so many other states and pay less than half the taxes?
