Rep. Peter Tercyak Demonizes Captialism in Letter to the Editor
FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
In a letter to the editor published in the New Britain City Journal, Representative Peter Tercyak explains his reasons for participating in a union protest at a Hartford nursing home that ultimately caused him to be arrested by the Hartford Police.
Despite the fact that Spectrum does not even own a facility in his district, Rep. Tercyak goes to great detail to compare the owners of Spectrum Healthcare to two non-profit nursing homes that are located in New Britain. One is operated by the Catholic Church; the other is operated by Hospital For Special Care. Rep. Tercyak seems to demonize Spectrum simply because they operate for a profit. He insists that because Spectrum won’t accept the same contract as these non-profit organizations, that the problem must rest with the company, and not the union.
It is clear when reading Rep. Tercyak’s letter that he dislikes the fact that this company actually exists to make a profit, and that the operators of these homes have a duty to return a profit to their investors—the very foundation that this capitalist society is built upon. His letter left me with the impression that he believes the investors for Spectrum should simply invest millions of their own dollars without any profit and should do so out of the goodness of their hearts.
If I remember my college economics class correctly, this type of redistribution of income is called communism.
How dare they run a business with the intent to make money from it!
ReplyDeleteJust another example of why right to work states are prospering while Connecticut is the most bankrupt state (on a per capita basis) in the nation.
ReplyDeleteUnions are the problem!
I'm sure this attitude with make him very popular with his radical progressive base!
ReplyDeleteTercyak is a Nurse. Does he not expect to get paid (profit) for the work he does or does he provide his services gratis?
ReplyDeleteLou,
ReplyDeleteTercyak demonstrates through his letter that he apparently shares the typical radical progressive attitude, and that is why unions are destroying this country.
He, as a union member, apparently deserves to make tons of money, free healthcare, and a benefits package that is second to none, like numerous paid holidays a year, several weeks paid sick time and several weeks paid vacation--all at the expense of those greedy nursing home owners he apparently despises so much.
Because he is in a union, he apparently feels he and his union cronies deserve all this, but the people risking their own money to create the nursing home and make his job even possible are not entitled to make anything for their investment and their risk because they are greedy capitalists who deserve to be punished for having more money than someone else.
This is little more than the same tired old socialist propaganda that we have been hearing from the Democrats for many years. Maybe he can explain to us why if socialism is so good, why has it failed anywhere in the world where it has been attempted, and why America, as a capitalist society, is the best land ever known to man?
Mr. Tercyak,
ReplyDeleteIf socialism is so good, why do the people have to be held captive behind walls and fences with guards armed with machine guns, as in the former Soviet Union and the former East Germany--both of them "former" because socialism failed?
And why is this capitalist society you liberals love to demonize the only country in the world that needs to erect fences to keep millions of people from coming here illegally?
Perhaps the judge should sentence Tercyak to perform 500 hours of community service doing his nursing home job for free so he can understand what it feels like to work hard and not make a dime?
ReplyDeleteTercyak is a perfect example of the type of elected official that tea parties across the nation are forming to rid this country of.
ReplyDeleteI just saw a TV commercial for Park Place Health Care, and it looked like a much nicer place than those 2 places in New Britain that Tercyak was comparing them to. Could the liberals be jealous that a private corporation runs such a nice facility than a non-profit organization?
ReplyDeleteTHIS PIECE OF GARBAGE IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY THIS STATE IS IN SUCH DEPLORABLE FINANCIAL CONDITION. THIS GUY IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE OF A LEGISLATOR!
ReplyDeleteIf there were any justice in this state, this guy would get about 6 months in jail!
ReplyDeleteWhat a turd!
wouldn't the correct spelling be TURDYAK?
ReplyDeletethis fool is too ignorant to realize he is the laughing stock of the legislature!
ReplyDeletemust make little mack the lesser one real proud!
Have a nice day appearing in court today Mr. Representative. Perhaps you will be sentenced to picking up garbage today, or are you better than the rest of the people in community court?
ReplyDeleteWorth getting arrested for?
ReplyDeleteLet's take a look. The nurses at that home have been on strike for over 2 months. Other nurses are happily doing their jobs and making money doing jobs they wouldn't otherwise have. For the nursing home, it is business as usual, providing their services through non-union workers who are replacing the union people who walked off the job, and of course making money! Now the union people have had no income for over 2 months and they can't even collect unemployment because they have good paying jobs they are refusing to perform. Sounds like life is beautiful for everyone involved but the union members.
Now that is what I call a bunch of zealots!
In response to Obsma blaming Bush for his own failures, such as An impending $19 trillion debt by 2019, trillions of dollars in deficits, a 60-plus day old oil spill in the Gulf that’s still leaking hundreds of thousands of gallons a day, almost 17% unemployment (when you factor in all the people who gave up looking for work) with no end in sight, over three and a half million jobs lost since Obama took office , over a trillion dollars in stimulus spending that still hasn’t worked, a Southern border leaking illegal aliens like a sieve, the worst economy since Jimmy Carter, a health care bill nobody wanted with estimated cost overruns already in the trillions, allegations of political bribery pay-offs and cover-ups, all topped by a weak and dangerous foreign policy. Wow, Bush has done more damage in the last year and a half than he did during the entire eight years he was in office. I wish someone would tell Bush he’s not president anymore so he would stop doing so much damage to our country. Oh darn, our state representative just got arrested in a radical protest, that too is all George Bush’s fault. This menace must be stopped!
ReplyDeleteTURD is sufficient
ReplyDeleteHopefully the company will never settle and will keep enjoying the benefit of non-union labor--most likely doing a better job than the union slugs ever did!
ReplyDeleteI would expect to get better service from non-union employees anyway. Whenever a place is unionized, the attitude seems to be that they couldn't care less about helping a customer because their job is guaranteed whether they do it or not.
ReplyDeleteI read his letter to the editor, and I was surprised to see Tercyak quoting a 3rd generation Republican like Martin Luther King Jr, especially when King was famous for rejecting the Democratic Party because it was Southern Democrats who owned slaves, and Republicans who freed them!
ReplyDeleteChannel 30 showed another radical protest in front of this nursing home. I am proud of this nursing home! They are operating with non-union nurses who otherwise wouldn't be working, while the union thugs who have refused to work for more than 2 months are out without a job and they can't even collect unemployment because they refuse to work while so many others are desperate for work! I hope the company never settles! Maybe these thugs need to start looking for a new job while non-union people continue to do their old ones! Park Place, keep up the good work!
