Banning Guns Will Keep Us Just As Safe As Banning Wood Chippers!

Newtown Connecticut will now be forever known for the murder of 26 people including 20 schoolchildren, but prior to December 14, Newton CT had already achieved world prominence for another horrific murder.

For those of you who might be too young to remember, flight attendant Helle Crafts was last seen on the night of November 19, 1986 when she was dropped off at her Newtown home.   After her disappearance, a snowplow driver came forward and reported seeing Richard Crafts—Helle’s husband--operating a wood chipper on the banks of Lake Zoar—also in Newtown—on the same night that Helle had disappeared.

After an extensive search of the lake, all that was found for remains was a piece of a tooth, a toe-nail covered in pink nail polish, some bone chips, some bleached blond human hairs, finger nails and some traces of type O blood—the same type as Helle.  Authorities theorized that Helle’s husband Richard had disposed of her body by shredding it in a wood chipper on that November 19 night.  Richard Crafts was ultimately convicted of his wife’s murder and in January 1990 he was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

What made this case so newsworthy was that it was the first time anyone had been convicted of a murder without a body being discovered.  For years after and until recently, all you seemed to hear about when referring to Newtown was that it was the site of the famous wood chipper murder.

The only surprise is that liberals didn’t seek to ban wood chippers as a result of this case, or at least require extensive background checks before someone can rent one.

  2. Colt, Mossberg, Stag and others will definitely face a boycott, they know how the market reacted to Ruger and Smith and Wesson during prior gun control fights, and that was before the internet could inform and mobilize millions upon millions of people at a moments notice. Staying in CT will soon be both a business and perception liability for these companies.

Fortunately, many other major manufacturers are lining up at our borders just waiting to take their places. Companies that will create high paying manufacturing jobs and pay significant taxes, companies like…um…gimme a minute…um…yeah. I can’t think of any. Can you?

  3. I’m ashamed of all of you for such cynicism and such a lack of faith in Dan Malloy.

Trust in Dan Malloy. Danny The Liberal will deliver bags of taxpayers' money to the CT weapons industry at the end of the session and fully subsidize the manufacture of AR-15s in CT for export elsewhere. These guns are determined to be too dangerous to sell here, but we will sell them in your state just because we are greedy liberal pigs and want your money no mater what we have to do to get it. It’s the Democratic way to be whores.

Now stop whining. The bags of free loot are coming.

  4. Whatever happened to the laws against vagrancy?

If you could to to prison just for having no visible means of support, then you would have to build a lot of new prisons to make room for all the Democrats because their party is loaded with freeloaders!
