Residents should press for Mayor O'Brien to explain his actions on recent "Hirees".

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

Some items re City of New Britain politics, especially in regard to Mayor O’Brien’s Administration and in which you may have an interest.

On my own, I have been investigating: the hiring of additional administration staff for the Mayor’s Office/ Administration; and the involvement of the New Britain Office of HRA in funding the positions.

I have learned that both Matt Dabrowski (Events Coordinator) and Francisco Cuin ( working as a questionable position out of the Mayor’s Office) are being paid through HRA. Rosemary Klotz corroborated this fact at a recent meeting of the Greater New Britain Arts Alliance. I am told that this is being accomplished through an O’Brien Budget item (300K) called “Community Services Dept.

Exactly how the City and HRA accomplish this is unknown to many taxpayers.

Through the Finance Dept., Its noted that neither of these two names are on the City payroll. Nobody seem to know where the funding is coming from to pay these people, not the finance Department or the community service department.   It would be interesting to know from whom they receive their paychecks??????

The Mayor has also hired a needless “Grants Writer”, Sue Heller to do a function that the various Departments have done for themselves  quite successfully for many years. Parks & Recreation, has been awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars already this year.

Other City Departments are equally as successful. I am conjecturing  that any grants that have already been written will have to be forwarded to Heller and, if successful, she can say, “see what I did!”

Attempts of trying to obtain information from the State office of HUD with their stating that they have absolutely no involvement in this matter whatsoever.

Also, Mayor O’Brien is trying get four hundred thousand dollars to renovate the former Temple Bnai Israel on West Main St., now an Hispanic Organization location into housing for the homeless. Mayor O'Brien has mentioned that if he has no other option for funding he will seek to bond the project.

  2. Tim O'Brien is just so damned corrupt. I honestly am shocked and alarmed that he is able to continue doing these underhanded things and there's just silence from the Common Council.

I guess the concept of checks and balances could really use a bit more BALANCE in New Britain.

  3. He should be confronted with these questions during the CPOA debate.

    If he shows up.

  4. Although, the Mayor's Chief of Staff may be as you have described her, her name is misspelled in this post.

  5. Does this so-called chief of staff even come to work every day or is this another "no-show" job. I am just wondering what if anything he or she does, because every story I ever read always quotes one of the many deputy chiefs of staff, leaving one to wonder what the high paid chief of staff actually does?

  6. If any one should be shouting, it is the RTC. They are too blame for letting O'Brien get this far. And then, I can assume that no one wanted to run against him in a city that is 5-1 against Republicans!

To give her her naive due, Erin came forward. Can anyone in their right mind think that a non-achieveing 26 year old can do what a VERY accomplished Mark Bernacke could not do?

Learn the difference between to and too.and how to spell Mark B's last name.

The only thing you seem to have achieved in life is to be ashamed of your real name, oops, forgot, it's coward.
