Are our Council Democrats All Homophobes?
FRANKSMITHSAYSNB
EDITORIAL:
Apparently Alderman Trueworthy chose the correct
minority group to viciously attack with hateful remarks because the
Democratic members of the City Council seem like they couldn't care less
about one of their own Democratic members of the council launching a vicious
and hateful attack against gay people. Is it possible that the Democrats
on the council share Trueworthy's dislike for gay people?
A number of these Democrats have gone on the record excusing
Mr. Trueworthy's disgusting behavior, and even in the face of the Courant
editorial calling for Mr. Trueworthy to resign from the council completely, the
majority of his fellow council Democrats are publicly stating that he should
stay on the council and fight for his job. Based on their rallying
behind Mr. Trueworthy, it appears that this is just the kind of hateful
conduct our local Democratic Party stands for!
Do you think that this group would be so forgiving had Mr.
Trueworthy gone to Broad Street and made nasty comments to a pair of restaurant
owners simply for being from Poland?
How about had he gone to Arch Street and attacked a couple
who owns a business there, calling them vile things because they happen to be
Puerto Ricans?
What if Mr. Trueworthy were to malign an African American
couple with the "N" word simply because they happen to be
black? Before you get upset about such a reference here, let us remember
that Mr. Trueworthy reportedly used such vile words in his attack of
these business owners who happen to be gay--an incident he admits to.
Had the minority group he victimized been one of these other
races or ethnicities, do you think the Democrats on the council would
be so forgiving? Would they be so quick to circle the wagons in defense
of his outrageous conduct?
If you agree with me that they probably would not, then the
only possible conclusion must be that the rest of the Democrats on the
council must share Mr. Trueworthy's homophobia, otherwise, where is their
outrage?

"Isn't it time for Trueworthy to Go?"
FRANKSMITHSAYSNB
EDITORIAL:
It is time for Mr. Trueworthy to step down from the city
council completely and to take a long break from public service.
It has become common knowledge that he publicly embarrassed
himself and the city in 2 recent incidents.
In the first incident he publicly referred to a woman by
using the “C” word or even worse and then told her to go do something sexual to
herself. At the root of this sickening
conduct towards a woman was that he seemed to feel he was better than her
because he as much as told her so during his intoxicated tirade.
In yet another incident he created a public disturbance in a
crowded restaurant by displaying what he described as his personal disgust for
homosexuals by reportedly yelling anti-gay remarks across a crowded restaurant
at the married gay couple that owns the restaurant.
Mr. Trueworthy has publicly admitted that both of these
incidents took place and has apologized for his disgusting and hateful conduct
and blames his actions on his admittedly being intoxicated at the time of both
of these incidents. As a token of his
sincerity he has offered to step down from his position as the Mayor Pro Tem on
the Council, but says he will remain a member of the City Council. But can the
public accept him on their council after such openly hateful conduct directed
towards two separate minority groups and can we accept his excuse that the
booze made him do it?
Mr. Trueworthy says that his conduct doesn’t really reveal
his true feelings toward women and homosexuals, but science tells us
otherwise:
"You can't pour vodka on a turnip and have it say
anti-Semitic remarks," and "Alcohol can't make you think or feel
things," says Gary L. Malone, MD,
an addiction psychiatrist and the medical director and chief of psychiatry at
Baylor All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas.”
"People should be held accountable for what they say drunk
as well as sober, and forgiveness should not be based on 'the alcohol made me
do it'…” adds Carleton Kendrick EdM,
LCSW, a family therapist in Boston. "I don't accept that because one does
not explode in the tirade that he came forth unprovoked without believing
in the thoughts that he expressed," he says.
"Alcoholics will tell you that they try to watch what
they say when they are drunk, but that's a conundrum because alcohol frees the
tongue to say what is in the heart," he adds. (Is Alcohol a Truth Serum, By DeniseMann, WebMD Feature Reviewed
by Louise Chang MD)
Mr.
Trueworthy tells us that he doesn’t really hate these 2 groups that he
offended, but experts are telling us that alcohol can’t make you say something
that you don’t really feel in your heart just because you are intoxicated. No one can tell us for sure what is really in
Mr. Trueworthy’s heart or mind, but after his disgusting conduct toward women
and homosexuals, how can either of these groups or even any minority group ever
accept him to represent their interests on the council? Is this the kind of vile and degrading
conduct that our local Democratic Party is willing to accept from their
leadership?
As Mr.
Kendrick said in his report, people need to be held accountable for what they
do when they are drunk and we should not accept “alcohol made me do it” as an
excuse, especially when such hatred was launched against 2 distinct minority
groups.
It is time
for Mr. Trueworthy to stop blaming alcohol for his conduct and do the right
thing for the city and the people he was elected to represent including the women
and homosexuals he so openly defiled by resigning from the council.

Border deal stuck on Dems about face - Washington Examin
“While the border bill has stalled, there is still a small chance
for a deal by Thursday, which is the last day the House is in session until
Sept. 8. Democrats and Republicans are at odds over a 2008 deportation law that
is preventing the fast deportation of the thousands of child migrants who have
come here from Central America. President Obama initially
backed a move to change the law in order to speed deportation of Central
American minors. Federal officials say 61,000 unaccompanied children have
crossed the southern border into Texas since October. But under pressure from
immigration rights groups, Obama has since backed down and Congressional
Democrats now say they oppose changing the law, which currently requires the government
provide immigration hearings for Central American youth, a process that can
take years. This week, Democrats will have to decide whether a provision to
change the 2008 law is a deal breaker, since Republicans in the House are
unlikely to pass a border spending bill without it. Both White House officials
and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., hinted
Democrats might give in on allowing a change to the provision… If Congress
agrees to pass a spending bill, it will likely be smaller than Obama's $3.7
billion request.”

The Haircut:
One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The florist was pleased and left the shop.
When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you , I'm doing community service this week.'
The cop was happy and left the shop.
The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.
Then a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I can not accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The Congressman was very happy and left the shop.
The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.

The “TANS” proposal to the common council membership!
FRANKSMITHSAYSNB
EDITORIAL:
When the
city hired a consultant to advise the council membership of the necessity to
avoid a takeover of the city’s finances by the state three of the members
continued with their disbelief that this could happen for nearly a period of
three hours. They were advised that this
similar situation occurred to the cities of Bridgeport and Waterbury,
Conn. When the voting occurred three of
the Alderman that voted for the takeover by the state were Aldermen David
DeFronzo, Michael Trueworthy, and Adam Platosz.
Rumors have
it that David DeFronzo has planned to run for mayor during the next election
cycle overshooting Trueworthy’s desires to venture for the same Democratic
party selection for the same spot.
The
electorate of the city of New Britain should be forewarned to not re-elect these

their voting for the “TANS” proposal, because they were not really representing their electorate’s

The COSTCO Dilemma !
FRANKSMITHSAYSNB
EDITORIAL:
Alderman
Michael Trueworthy has been quoted, in a local newspaper, with his introducing
his plan of eminent domain which his party chairman has been accusing Mayor
Erin Stewart of possibly doing, on his blog, over the Costco proposed building
in New Britain, but Trueworthy has added a new wrinkle to this issue with his
citing “ We need it for public use and access for public safety equipment.” Many are asking how can Alderman Trueworthy
introduce his eminent domain proposal when in reality it’s a business to
business issue?
Alderman
Louis Salvio was absolutely correct when he criticized Aldermen Sanchez and DeFronzo
when the Democratic Council waved millions of dollars of potential income from
the tax agreement agreed by the HRA agency and the city for its addition they built
on Clinton Street with their supporting the waver.
From day one,
upon the introduction of the COSTCO plan, Alderman DeFronzo has opposed it and
continues to do so.

BOEHNER: FIX LAW ON MIGRANTS BEFORE NEW SPENDING
“After first supporting common-sense changes to the 2008 law that is making it more difficult to resolve this crisis, the White House backpedalled and failed to include those changes in its formal request to Congress. Meanwhile, many Democrats in Congress have reversed themselves and now say no changes to the 2008 law are acceptable. As I said last week, I don’t believe the American people will support sending more money to the border unless both parties work together to address these policies and actually solve this problem. The lack of leadership from this White House, and President Obama’s refusal to stand up to critics in his own political party, are jeopardizing our ability to find common ground and help the kids who are caught in the middle of this crisis.” – House Speaker John Boehner in a statement on the president’s demand for new border spending.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is taking the next step today as he is expected to order 1,000 members of the Texas National Guard to defend the Rio Grande Valley amid an ongoing surge in illegal immigration. The plan, outlined in a memo leaked by a Democratic state legislator who opposes the idea, would put the troops in place over the span of a month with the aim of freeing federal immigrations and border officials to attend to the tens of thousands of migrant minors already in U.S. custody.

BIPARTISAN BILL TO SPEED UP DEPORTATIONS GAINS GROUND
WaPo: “A pair of lawmakers from Texas will introduce
bipartisan legislation in Congress on [today] to speed up the deportations of
tens of thousands of Central American children who have entered the country
illegally across the southern border. Sen. John Cornyn (R) and
Rep. Henry Cuellar (D) say their bill aims to amend a 2008 law
that currently requires the federal government to provide greater legal
protections to young immigrants who attempt to enter the United States from
noncontiguous countries. The legislation would rewrite the law to allow Central
American minors be treated like those from Mexico and Canada, who can be
deported more quickly. Under the plan, unaccompanied minors from any country
would be able to have an immigration court hearing within seven days of their
processing by Health and Human Services, and an immigration judge would be
required to rule within three more days on whether the child would be allowed
to stay or be deported. The bill authorizes 40 new immigration judges to help
process the cases. The lawmakers are calling their bill the HUMANE Act, an
acronym for: Helping Unaccompanied Minors and Alleviating National Emergency.”

CPOA isn’t a one-party organization
I am writing in response to a recent Herald article as an ultra-conservative registered Democrat and former president of the Citizens Property Owners Association for 18 years. We had members of both political parties, among them many well-known Democrats (mayors, city officials, department heads and professionals whose party affiliation had no bearing) and they chose to be taxpayer watchdogs. All were conservative thinkers.
To assume it was a one-party association for taxpayers is ridiculous. The concern of this association is to keep city government accountable for its spending and taxation. We always welcome members to be a partner for New Britain’s good welfare.
Incidentally, as its former president over the years, our association had the best working and cooperative relationship with former Mayor Timothy Stewart who was always receptive to taxpayers’ concerns. We look forward to the same spirit of cooperation from our mayor, Erin Stewart.
Congratulations are now in order to Michael DeGrandis, newly elected president of this organization in its 90th year to continue our worthwhile mission.

Alderman Louis Salvio Attacks Fellow Alderman for Supporting O'Brien's False Income Budget Proposals
Other than articles printed in local
daily and weekly newspapers one sees precious little in letters to the editor
from local residents about important projects being considered by New Britain.
I guess many of these people prefer the anonymity of the blogs where they can
indulge in name calling, profanity and nonsensical comments, with impunity.
This letter makes just a few comments about one proposed New Britain project,
the possible coming to the city of the membership type retail giant, COSTCO.
While some blog commenters and even
some City officials have concentrated on what they consider negative aspects of
the proposal, few have seen and spoken in favor of the possible economic
benefits to the City. E.g.: the addition of 220 jobs to this area, good jobs
with benefits, averaging better than minimum wage; much needed tax revenues for
the City - yes, less than originally mentioned but additional monies that the
City does not have now. The benefits are many to the greater number of
taxpayers while the negatives are few.
On the issue of property taxes: it
is patently obvious that some commenters confuse the issues of abatement of taxes
and waiving of taxes. Because of cost overruns resulting from unforeseen
circumstances, Costco has requested tax abatement from New
Britain, NOT tax waiving! Tax abatement means reducing the amount
of taxes, payments made over a short period of time - seven years in this case
. Taxes will be paid, all new revenues. Waiving
taxes means forgiving them, perhaps in perpetuity. The city gets nothing,
forever!
EXAMPLE. During the last months of
the O’Brien Administration, the Common Council (then, 13 Democrats and 2
Republicans), at the request of Mayor Tim O’Brien, PROUDLY waived the property
taxes of The Hunan Resources Agency (HRA) of New Britain on Clinton
St. Potentially, over $20 million dollars over just 20 years. Nine
(9) of those Democrats still serve on the Council today. Commenting on the
Costco proposal in a local newspaper today, Alderman David DeFronzo said,
“ . Council member David DeFronzo, who has opposed
the project from the start, said tax incentives would make it even less
attractive.” It was OK though to waive HRA
taxes! In The Fall of 2013, when writing profiles of candidates running in the
municipal election, Herald writer Robert Storace quoted Alderman
DeFronzo as saying that he (DeFronzo) strongly supported O’Brien’s budget. Go figure.

LOOSE LIPS MAY SINK OBAMA BORDER PLAY
It looks like congressional Democrats got a little ahead of the White House in touting the president’s decision to drop efforts to deport tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors who have surged across the southern U.S. border to take advantage of the administration’s policy of granting sanctuary to migrant children. After the AP cited Hill sources claiming that President Obama, bowing to liberal worries, would drop his request for rapid deportation authority, the White House pushed back saying that the request was still part of a package headed to Congress today seeking billions in new spending and other legal changes to address the border surge.

complexities of the ACA….Brokers have only seen their jobs get more difficult
since the dawn of the Affordable Care Act. They're under pressure to deliver
employers low-cost health care, but that can be increasingly difficult. Others
fear losing customers to public and private health exchanges. And when brokers
look elsewhere for work they take their expertise with them. Many had
previously expressed concern that the introduction of the health exchanges
would take business away from them.”

To the Editor/ By: Alderman Don Naples
The editorial, “Money Management 101,” that appeared in the June 27 Herald does a disservice to city leaders, especially Mayor Erin Stewart. While the Herald shakes its head and wonders “where have all the leaders gone?” the mayor, her staff and city department heads have been working tirelessly to get New Britain’s finances and major projects back on track.
While not pointing “fingers of responsibility at any one politician or party,” the editorial laments a two-year delay in the Costco project, and the loss of $904,416 in federal grant funds due to two years of failure to commit a total of $1.2 million to a specific project. It’s obvious to everyone but the Herald editors where the problem was. The O’Brien Administration’s decision to abolish the Department of Municipal Development left the city without anyone to administer federal grant funds and the projects that they created. This was a disaster for our city and we are paying the price for it.
One of Mayor Stewart’s first acts following her election in November was to restore the Municipal Development Department. This was not an easy task, given the city’s recent extensive reorganization and the financial crisis at that time. After some initial squabbling about over-extended bonding (which threatened the city’s credit rating) Common Council members from both sides have been working together with a few exceptions to grapple with a broad range of issues facing New Britain. Much of the preparatory work is done in council committees, before resolutions are presented to the full council for a vote.
These committee meetings draw little attention from the press or the public.
It’s easy to take pot shots from afar. The editorial says “the city and its leaders must up their game”. My response: Up yours by reporting what is actually happening — good as well as bad — instead of making controversial statements in a vacuum. Only then will you recognize the strong leadership that is right under your noses.

Veterans please read!!
It doesn't matter
to me if you are a veteran or not. Please read and forward this to all
your e-mail buddies. It needs to go viral.
The 2014 United States elections will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. During this midterm election year, all 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 33 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate will be contested in this election. Get out and VOTE!!!!)
A
movement has been started by our armed forces to get out the vote in
2014...They are organizing themselves, but this can be done by all of us. The
President, the Commander in Chief, has made the Rules of Engagement (ROE) so
difficult, that our troops are often killed before they can even get
permission to fight. Nothing has been done to stop our troops from being
murdered by the Afghanis they are training, either.
Now, the President wants the US to sign on to the UNs International Criminal Court (ICC), which would allow the UN's ICC to arrest and try US troops for War Crimes, without the legal protections guaranteed under US Law, and from which there is no > appeal. The President, with his Democratic control of the Senate, has nearly all the power.
If
the Non-Establishment Republicans, and Conservatives, can take back the
Senate in 2014, our troops can once again be protected from unnecessary
danger.
Please consider this, and send it on to your mailing lists.
Interestingly
enough, when GWB was president you heard about the military deaths in
Iraq and Afghanistan almost daily. With Obama in the White House, the
mainstream media has been strangely quiet. -
More
than 1,000 American soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan in the last
27 months. This is more than the combined total of the five years before
that. Many have died since August. During the last six month, over 50
additional NATO and US servicemen have been murdered, inside jobs by those
who are hired to be a "force for good in Afghanistan."
The
commander in chief is AWOL. Not a peep, although he ordered the White House
flag flown at half-staff for the Sikhs that were killed. There is a deep
disgust, a fury, growing in the ranks of the military against the indifferent
incompetence of this president.
It
has taken on a dangerous tone. No one knows what to do about him, but the
anger runs deep as the deaths continue with no strategic end in sight to the
idiocy of this war. Obama has had 5 years to end this futile insanity, during
which time he has vacationed, golfed, campaigned, and generally ignored the
plight of our men and women in uniform. But, there is now a movement afoot in
the armed services to launch a massive get out the vote drive against this
president's party. Not just current active duty types, but the National
Guard, Reserves, the retired, and all other prior service members. This is no
small special interest group, but many millions of veterans who can have an
enormous impact on the outcome of the November 2014 mid-term election, if
they all respond.
The
one million military retirees in Florida alone could mean an overwhelming
victory in that state if they all show up at the polls. It might not keep
another one hundred U.S. troops from dying between now and November, but a
turnout to vote by the military against this heart breaking lack of
leadership can make a powerful statement that hastens a change to the
indifference of this shallow little man who just lets our soldiers die.
Veterans: Please forward to your lists.
