after about a year, too bad they can't get cameras to record the vandalism to the elderly citizen's cars in the garage.

We can spend $21,000 on a plate reader to have police help get tax money but helping the roughly 2,700domestic violence incidents a year, about seven a day, doesn't seem to be a priority. I am glad they can at least get more than one camera. Maybe the police should not be used to collect taxes if there is this much violence out there.

Maybe when the police start collecting the taxes, they will find more thugs to throw in jail and there will be less violence.

If every merchant selling cameras would donate 1 digital camera to their local police department, they would be doing a great service to the abuse victims, whether it be spousal or child abuse. With digital cameras becoming lower in price every month, how much would it cost the merchant...less than $100? The cameras don't need to be "top of the line" to serve their intended purpose. It may be a form of good PR for the businesses doing so.

Excellent Idea, Maybe if problems were more out in the open, collectively as citizens of New Britain, we could all contribute to the solution.

Any suggestions on how to get the merchants to each donate 1 inexpensive digital camera to their local police department? Would writing a letter to the editor help? Or would it be something the local chamber of commerce would handle?
