Everyone is focusing on beating him in an election in 2012, what makes you think there will even be an election?

With his dictator like personality, I'll bet he believes he can simply order there to never again be an election by executive order, and for that matter simply suspend the constitution by his executive order. That pesky outdated document written by old white men has been getting in his way too much anyway.
