NEW BRITAIN — The Common Council is expected Wednesday to approve the formation of a six-member committee to review the city’s response to the late October snowstorm, despite former Mayor Timothy T. Stewart’s assertion that one member is biased and that the inquiry should not be done.
Democratic Alderman David DeFronzo, who sponsored the resolution to review the response, said Friday the committee is not aimed at singling out any one person or department. Rather, DeFronzo said, it will look at how the city can do a better job the next time a major storm hits.
A council agenda released Friday included the names of the six people who will be appointed to the committee should the council approve its formation, which is expected.
DeFronzo has taken issue with Stewart’s decision not to open the city’s Emergency Operations Center during the October snowstorm

Dave DeFronzo also completed the dirty trick perpetrated by Phil Sherwood in his with hunt against Willy Pabon and Mark Bernacki.
Now, what will this panel do? Besides getting the individuals in the EOC involved more comp time, please explain what opening the EOC have done: tell CLP what had already been reported to them?; quieted the storm that did most of its damage in the P.M. hours of 10/29 and the early A.M. hours of 10/30?
Get serious Dave, Stewart is no longer Mayor and the election is over!
Other than do what Dave DeFronzo wishes, to wit, blame Tim Stewart for summoning the "Weather Gods and Goddesses" of (a) creating the storm (Alfred) and (b) causing the enormous destruction that wreaked havoc on our electrical power grids, what can this group find? That opening the EOC would have improved response time by CLP or the City of New Britain? I think not!
Even someone that has an in with the weather deities would have been too late. Many people didn't lose power until the storm was over. I called CLP at 2:40 P.M. on 10/29 and told that the calls were coming in by the thousands and NOT TO EVEN ASK WHEN POWER WOULD BE RESTORED!
With regard to those chosen to be on the six person team there are a couple that have a personal axe to grind with Stewart; I doubt very much that they can be objective. On the other hand perhaps the others can look beyond vendettas and be objective. That being said, I ask again, what can this group accomplish beyond blaming Stewart for exercising his Mayoral prerogative and second guessing same? Nothing but BLAME! If that floats your boat, knock yourself out!
