EDITORIAL

IT IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME THAT MANY OF THE COMMENTS MADE BY THOSE WHO WISH TO PROTECT THE ACTIONS OF ALDERMAN PAUL CATANZARO OVER HIS CONFLICT VOTES ON THE CITY COUNCIL PLEASE BE REMINDED OF THE FOLLOWING:
1 Recall when he voted on the New Britain Restaurant resolution even after his own boss, at the city agency where the alderman works, spoke against the choice the democrats were about to vote. He voted.
2 When he proposed a resolution to eliminate Undertakers from serving on the cemetery commission and when it was time to vote he was warned by the Mayor to not vote on this issue because his boss is the chairperson of the Cemetery commission. He insisted on voting and did vote.
3. This past council meeting when the council voted its infamous 13-2 vote by not accepting the recommendation of the Ethics commission regarding the Catanzaro issue guess what? -----Catanzaro voted--- he was one of the 13 affirmative votes.
As I was advised by an anonymous poster that I should review the city’s charter like he apparently did and found no violations of any votes by the council members.
Well. I do not need a charter or a ruling to know when a conflict occurs and the three aforementioned certainly rises to the need for the State to visit our city and investigate ethical disregard to public policy by this alderman and the protection being bestowed by his fellow alderman claiming he is right and never committed the violations of the Ethics policy of the city charter. And that include Mr. Ethics--Adlderman Sherwood who was one of the 13 votes tha gave support to Alderman Catanzaro.
That the city's Ethics commission voted and recommended to have the council issue a reprimand to this alderman.
Good Public policy be dammed----- is the way the Democrats operate on the council.
Pinnacle Heights Project is Advancing!

My original posting of January 8th which did point out the slowness in the progress of the demolition process of this vast project.
Recent pictures made available to me by this blog’s reader indicating that the project is progressing at a much faster rate.
Hopefully, with the bad economics that is currently plaguing any new investment venture; our new site when available for the entrepreneurs will attract businesses willing to invest ignoring the bad economical projections.
New Britain fervently needs the new tax revenue that this development will bring in when it gets underway.
