Sherwood Promises More To Come?

Sherwood shows on his web site a photo of himself partaking in a radical protest in front of Walmart that led to Walmart leaving New Britain.

The high and mighty Sherwood then proclaims "more to come"

Does that mean that Sherwood, if elected state representative, is promising to drive even more employers out of the city?

Jack Carey Writes About The New Alderman Sanchez

I’ve been reading the blog on Alderman Sanchez and find it interesting. That this kid is 22 and been appointed as an alderman says a lot more about him then what you guys are presenting on this blog. I know he went to Sacred Heart and now Tunix but why hasn’t he finish? I am surprised that that question is even being asked given the economy. Manny is a prep school graduate, Watkinson, and an honor student. He was accepted to Wesleyan and Trinity colleges on partial scholarship but still proved to expensive for him to be able to handle at the time. (If you are not aware these two schools are amongst the top ten small colleges in the country. I wonder how many writing on this blog were accepted to Ivy or small ivy schools or went to college at all?) He has gotten a year and a half of school under his belt which he has paid for unaided. Commendable is it not?. It must not be lost to you that college loans have to be supported by collateral because of the default rates by the middle class, mostly white, so are virtually unavailable to a young kid having to pay his own way.

When I went to school it was so small we sat in a circle around the teacher from the smartest to the dumbest and I sat next to the head of my class---and from what I am reading you guys blogging here did too. How could you pen this nonsense knowing nothing about Mr Sanchez and having done no research. Discounting the racists on this blog, (yes we still have people in this country whose minds have not evolutionarily surpassed an ape) those with some apparent education are not being fair and are making rash generalizations within the framework of liberal and conservative politics which are far too myopic to be of any use in the judgment of character.

Just consider this. The blogs pointing out that this alderman seat was reserved for someone of the Spanish population is probably correct. It is politics after all. I can remember when Obama was running and 95% of all blacks voted for him and the white voters indignation of that. I also can remember when John F Kennedy ran and 95% of the catholic and 100% of the Irish voted for him but this was interestingly overlooked in white criticism of blacks in this last election. For whatever reason when politics cross racial divides they take on a more harsh nasty tone usually flamed by those lesser minds who usually have bigger mouths. Should we not silence the racists and drop the hypocrisy it is unbecoming an intelligent people.

The questions about experience are engaging. How do you get experience without experience? The answer is you don’t. Every person makes mistakes and learns from those mistakes grows and gets better. There is a peculiar thing about politics that both the liberals and conservatives like to eat their young. There are no paternalistic or maternal instincts just savagery. Why does no one get involved in the political process? This is a common complaint heard on town committees. The answer is because when you put yourself forward you get mauled, just like Mr Sanchez is getting mauled in this blog. He hasn’t even had the time to sit in his chair and make one decision and the “mouth before brain” types start.

G.W.Bush had experience remember. His people appoint a 26 year old attorney to handle the district attorneys and she uses her power to politicize an institution that is the foundation of our democracy. A justice system can not be political or we become Russia. What about the incompetence of the weapons of mass destruction. I’m sure many of you still believe the Arabs have hidden the plutonium under the robes and burqas they wear. Guess that is why Arab women do that ahhahhhahhh thing they do –they have radiation poisoning. Mr Sanchez could have done a better job then these people.

I will do one other thing that cowards on this blog don’t do—sign it. Novel idea taking credit for ones own opinion.

Jack Carey—not resident of New Britian----friend of Mr Sanchez

Who Will Replace DeFronzo?

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

This was the headline that appeared in the New Britain Herald today .

The Democratic leadership was quick to propose former state Rep. Terry Gerratana, but many of the Democratic council members haven't surfaced with their desires as to who should replace the Senator.

They are too busy deciding who will run for mayor in the next election with the ethics violator and high vote getter, Alderman Catanzarro, leading the pack.

Adding to the rumor mix on the Democratic side of the isle vying to become the Senator's replacement is well known former Mayor Lucian Pawlak.

Another mystery has entered the rumor mill since the resignation of Majority Leader Alderman Phil Sherwood from the city council.

This blog did announce that a rumor was throughout the city and city hall indicating that our Mayor may jump into the fray, a few days ago, and with the Herald quoting the Mayor in today's edition as saying he "would definitely take a look at" running for the state Senate Seat.

One can only imagine the disarray the mayor's action would cause to our city by leaving the leadership control of the city to the ultra-progressive socialists.

I Trust that the Mayor will evaluate his future move with his family's best interest in mind.

As reported on this blog Senator DeFronzo will not take his oath this coming January 3rd.

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

It is a rumor at city hall and everywhere else in town that Mayor Timothy Stewart will seek his party's nomination to run and fill this empty Senate Seat!

Ct. Loses it's Millionaires

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

Based by the New Haven Register Conn’s jobless percentage has hit 9.%. The New London Day also reported that 10,000 millionaires have moved from our Connecticut.

Our resident’s are earning two per cent less income currently with earnings diminishing in 2011

Now we have the most liberal Governor elect in our state’s history and we can now watch our state going in the opposite direction of Heaven.

Start Building the Busway!

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "OUR VIEW: It's past time to start building the bus...":

NEW BRITAIN: It's past time to start building the NB busway....

Why doesn’t senator Donald DeFronzo want to see the city of New Britain progress? That was the question from one Herald reader after learning that her state Sen. New Britain’s Donald DeFronzo, had criticized the state Department of Transportation, charging that the agency shifted funds from other projects to cover the escalating cost of the proposed busway between New Britain and Hartford.

The DOT needs to be held accountable for what appears to be an insidious strategy” of redirecting general federal highway and transportation money that could be used for other projects across the state, to cover the costs of the busway without legislative approval, he stated.

According to the memo, when the legislature “initially identified the New Britain-to-Hartford Busway as a project to be authorized for funding” in 2006, the cost was estimated at $300 million to $325 million, supported with $275 million in federal funds.

Others dispute this, saying that, in 2006, the project was estimated at $458 million. Moreover, they say, in a difficult economy with construction jobs scarce, bids on the busway are more likely to come in 30 to 40 percent lower than estimated in the boom times of 2006.

Our concern is that DeFronzo’s comments will stall an improved transportation system for bus riders and for the drivers who share the road now with commuters who’d take the bus if the option were available to them. Central Connecticut State University officials, in particular, have emphasized that this type of mass transit would be a boon to their students.

But, as we’ve said before, it would also be a boon to the region, providing economic rejuvenation, creating badly needed jobs. We’d hate to see comments by DeFronzo, co-chair of the legislature’s Transportation Committee, jeopardize already authorized federal funding. And for what? For those “other projects across the state”? The pipe dream of a rail system somewhere down the road? One that couldn’t even begin for 10 years?

Frankly, we believe that killing a job-creating busway would be a horror not just for New Britain, but for all of Central Connecticut, including Bristol.
We need this project now. It’s time to see shovels in the ground as we are seeing on the New Britain police station and expect to see soon on the Renaissance project in downtown Bristol.

Federal Judge Rules Key Provision of "Obamacare" Unconstitutional: Fox News

Fox News Breaking Story:

Casting an unmistakable and perhaps permanent pockmark on the face of the Obama administration, a federal judge in Virginia ruled Monday that a major component of the new health care reform law is unconstitutional.

Judge Henry E. Hudson ruled Monday for the state's claim that the requirement for people to purchase health care exceeds the power of Congress under the Constitution's Commerce Clause.

Hudson's eagerly awaited decision invalidates the requirement that all Americans purchase health insurance by 2014 or face a federal fine. Hudson's decision is the first striking down part of the controversial legislation.

Alderman Carlozzi Speaks Rarely!

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

Carlos Carlozzi Jr., a Democratic Alderman and a business owner of an insurance agency who doesn’t play to the council cameras, like the Democratic leadership on our city council, but is there to represent his constituency and only speaks when the brattle continues on and on by the leadership with his making the much needed interruption in order to get back to the business at hand.

A classic example occurred at last week’s council meeting when the leadership went on and on over the Schaller planned purchase of the Veterans Drive property, for its expansion plans, with Alderman Carlozzi offering his input “it’s a win win for the city of New Britain.”

Forcing the council vote with one descending vote of no recorded by Alderman Adam Platosz.

So why all the Brattle by the leadership when they planned to vote for this issue anyway?

Friday, December 10, 2010

Alderman Paul Catanzarro opposed his employer's recommendations for the purchase of dump trucks during last Wednesday's council meeting.

Claiming that the DEP has established new regulations requiring a second tank for an additional fluid that mixes with the diesel fuel which would increase millage by at least 5%. Additionally, he also claimed that this mixture lessens the carbon exhaust.

His department head was at a loss for words for this revelation but the Alderman's persistence was successful in getting the matter tabled. His side kick, Alderman Sherwood, agreeing with Mr. DeMaio's comments 100% by stating he is not trying to micromanage with his negative vote.

As you may recall this Alderman was found by the New Britain Ethics Commission that he had violated the city's policies and ordered that he be sanctioned or removed from the council.

We all know what happened subsequently, with the Democratic side of the Council isle refusing to take any action, claiming the commission's action was merely political.

What did the voting public do at the last election? They reelected making him the high vote getter and rumors have it that he is planning to run for Mayor.

Schaller's intended move to Veterans Drive in New Britain created a lot of dialog by the Council members.

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

Schaller's proposal is to purchase their old location on veterans drive for their needed expansion plans, requesting a tax relief for two years during the construction, but the installed equipment would be taxable in the year of 2011.

The majority leader expressed his comparing his excitement with his citing that we cannot do that for all these requests because of the bad economy while Alderman Trueworhty questioned the exact location of this building.

Alderman Carlo Carlozzi. Jr.jump in expressing it's a win win for the city.

Amazingly, all voted for the proposal with the exception of Alderman Adam Platosz by his casting a no vote.

The following are 19 facts about the deindustrialization of America that will blow your mind....

#1 The United States has lost approximately 42,400 factories since 2001. About 75 percent of those factories employed over 500 people when they were still in operation.

#2 Dell Inc., one of America's largest manufacturers of computers, has announced plans to dramatically expand its operations in China with an investment of over $100 billion over the next decade.

#3 Dell has announced that it will be closing its last large U.S. manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in November. Approximately 900 jobs will be lost.

#4 In 2008, 1.2 billion cell phones were sold worldwide. So how many of them were manufactured inside the United States? Zero.

#5 According to a new study conducted by the Economic Policy Institute, if the U.S. trade deficit with China continues to increase at its current rate, the U.S. economy will lose over half a million jobs this year alone.

#6 As of the end of July, the U.S. trade deficit with China had risen 18 percent compared to the same time period a year ago.

#7 The United States has lost a total of about 5.5 million manufacturing jobs since October 2000.

#8 According to Tax Notes, between 1999 and 2008 employment at the foreign affiliates of U.S. parent companies increased an astounding 30 percent to 10.1 million. During that exact same time period, U.S. employment at American multinational corporations declined 8 percent to 21.1 million.

#9 In 1959, manufacturing represented 28 percent of U.S. economic output. In 2008, it represented 11.5 percent.

#10 Ford Motor Company recently announced the closure of a factory that produces the Ford Ranger in St. Paul, Minnesota. Approximately 750 good paying middle class jobs are going to be lost because making Ford Rangers in Minnesota does not fit in with Ford's new "global" manufacturing strategy.

#11 As of the end of 2009, less than 12 million Americans worked in manufacturing. The last time less than 12 million Americans were employed in manufacturing was in 1941.

#12 In the United States today, consumption accounts for 70 percent of GDP. Of this 70 percent, over half is spent on services.

#13 The United States has lost a whopping 32 percent of its manufacturing jobs since the year 2000.

#14 In 2001, the United States ranked fourth in the world in per capita broadband Internet use. Today it ranks 15th.

#15 Manufacturing employment in the U.S. computer industry is actually lower in 2010 than it was in 1975.

#16 Printed circuit boards are used in tens of thousands of different products. Asia now produces 84 percent of them worldwide.

#17 The United States spends approximately $3.90 on Chinese goods for every $1 that the Chinese spend on goods from the United States.

#18 One prominent economist is projecting that the Chinese economy will be three times larger than the U.S. economy by the year 2040.

#19 The U.S. Census Bureau says that 43.6 million Americans are now living in poverty and according to them that is the highest number of poor Americans in the 51 years that records have been kept.

So how many tens of thousands more factories do we need to lose before we do something about it?

How many millions more Americans are going to become unemployed before we all admit that we have a very, very serious problem on our hands?

Three great Presidents!

What did Presidents Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower have in common?

This is something that should be of great interest for you to pass around.

Back during the great depression, Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work.

Harry Truman deported over two million illegal aliens after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans.

In 1954 Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexicans. The program was called Operation Wetback. It was done so WWII and Korean veterans would have a better chance at jobs. It took two years, but they deported them!

Now if they could deport the illegal aliens back then, they could sure do it today. If you have doubts about the veracity of this information, enter Operation Wetback into your favorite search engine and confirm it for yourself.

Why you might ask can't they do this today? Actually the answer is quite simple. Hoover , Truman, and Eisenhower were men of honor, not untrustworthy politicians looking for votes!

Reminder: Don't forget to pay your taxes - 12 to 20 million illegal aliens – are depending on you!

The Herald Continues To Demonstrate One Sided Liberal Reporting!

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

In a story printed today, the Herald would have its readers believe that Dan Malloy owes his victory in the recent election for Governor entirely to the efforts of the radical Working Families Party.

The truth be told, if it were not for Chester First Selectman Thomas E. Marsh, we would be celebrating the election of Governor Tom Foley. Chester might be a tiny little hamlet very few have ever even heard of, but the impact their First Selectman had on Connecticut may very well be something the people of Connecticut will be regretting for years to come. Mr. Marsh garnered a total of 17,629 votes. Although Mr. Marsh ran as an Independent, he is a very conservative Republican, perhaps one of the most conservative candidates ever to seek the office of Governor in Connecticut.

It would be hard to imagine that anyone who voted for a conservative like Mr. Marsh, would ever even consider voting for an ultra-liberal like Malloy, however, anyone who would vote for a candidate on the radical Working Families Party line would just as easily vote for the same radical liberal on the Democratic line, would they not? For argument's sake, if you add Mr. Marsh's votes to Tom Foley's vote total, Tom Foley would have won the race by 11,225 votes!

Tom Marsh clearly served as a spoiler in this election in so far as he allowed the Democrats to win the Governor's office for the first time in over 20 years--and especially since he enabled the most liberal person to ever hold that office to be elected Governor.

Clearly, the Working Families Party had absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of the race when compared to the enormous part played by Tom Marsh.

Perhaps The Herald will consider telling the entire story to its readers?

State Senator DeFronzo's position on the New Britain Busway is Disheartening!

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

State Senator DeFronzo's position on the New Britain Busway is Disheartening!

The story that appeared in Thursday's Hartford Courant quotes our Senator as saying that this project needs a second look, appearing to be his attempt to derail it and destroy any progress to New Britain's downtown plans.

According to this article, he is now joined by Rep. David McClusky, a former New Britain Resident (and fellow arrestee of Rep. Tercyak's--arrested during the same radical protest as Tercyak). These 2 are also joined by the Nicastro brothers of Bristol in their opposition to the Busway, in favor of replacing it with a train to Bristol.

This is not a new position for the Senator, which leaves one to question what sort of political deal was struck with the Bristol boys to get the Senator to forget who elected him to represent New Britain's interest.
