Have you ever wondered how you can tell when the “seasons” are changing? I’m not referring to the typical four seasons of certain types of weather in an area, rather, I’m referring to election seasons, municipal, state, congressional, presidential, etc.

1/30/13

We are now in the Municipal reelection season. In November, we will elect a new Mayor, Council and various other representatives for the many offices up for grabs. Precious few should be reelected, especially for the Mayor’s Office and .

Have you noticed also that the tenor of the subjects tends to lean more toward the positive? No more talk of looming deficits, absentee landlord problems to name a couple. Instead, there is talk of new proposals, newspaper ads talking about all the actions to clean up blight like boarding up the Berkowitz Building, no property tax increase, etc. Also, our newly elected U.S. Senator comes to town for a photo op with O’Brien and State Rep., Sanchez. The won’t do any more for NB than they ever did which was zero.

The costs for all this positive talk are being borne by the taxpayers: $100K to hire a PR Firm to promote O’Brien’s anti blight efforts/reelection effort; $Thousands - no bid - given to a firm to board up the Berkowitz Building; $47+K to hire a Community Organizer who is the wife of a city alderman, etc., etc.

Now, probably the most ridiculous one yet was put forth by the Parks Dept., an entertainment complex on part of the Stanley Golf Course (SGC). $Thousands will be spent at taxpayers' expense to hire a firm to study the idea. Taxpayers don’t know yet the full effects of Costco taking a portion of the Red Nine at SGC. Golf Course income will suffer severely through loss of tournament play if the length of the course is shortened, Hartford Rd. traffic will be more adversely affected. No estimate is available as to the costs of creating, operating and maintaining an entertainment complex to say nothing about moving the SGC maintenance building. O’Brien is planning to use money from the sale of SGC land to fund this folly; has the sale been made yet. Would you run your own household budget like this?

The O’Brien mayoralty has been a fraud and that won’t change, evolution doesn’t happen that fast. New Britain voters need to oust O’Brien/Sherwood from office or face a monumental tax increase. There is precious little left to purloin from Water Dept. reserves or other Enterprise Funds. City Hall needs a thorough cleansing.

Obama's Moves in Bringing America Down

Obama's Moves in Bringing America Down

With the trillions of dollars debt owed to China and with that nation calling in for payments it is now clear that Obama's longing to bring the USA down as though it is his desire to punish our citizens from enjoying the spoils of imperialism & colonialism.

Sadly, he is bringing our nation down under the shadow of communism.

Salvio comments on "City Looks to Finance $1M for Family Entertainment...":

\If it weren't so obvious, it would be funny but it's very sad! O'Brien has begun his second year in office so now he begins to try things, anythings, that he thinks will cover up the bonehead moves he has made thus far.

In my opinion, spending over $2 Million to plan, build and open an entertainment complex on Hartford Rd. on golf course land is dumb. It doesn't even venture a guess as to what it would cost to buy all the "toys" for the complex or the costs to staff and maintain the complex. And please, don't tell me that all these costs will be borne by revenue from the complex.

Also, it has yet to be determined what effects Costco will have on the total length of the Red Nine and what this will have on the ability of the golf course to attract tournaments. Bill DeMaio is a great guy but this is worst idea yet. Leave the golf course alone, enough damage has been done to it already. And has anybody considered having another idea that will cause a traffic nightmare on Hartford Rd.?

In the meantime, our schools must beg for pennies to try to maintain their status as the lowest performing schools in the state! We as a city need to decide that it is our greatest priority to remove O'Brien/Sherwood from office.

America Is Becoming a Pagan Nation?

With the USA moving towards becoming a pagan nation also known as the drifting American public. Paganism rejects the biblical revelation of the one GOD.

Rejects worship, truth, and accepts Marxism as an embargo of GOD.

The Modern family is in siege with Marriage fast becoming bygone concept and paganism is winning the so called battle against Christianity.

THE $25,000 REWARD OFFER

Sam Zherka's $25,000 reward offer for the arrest of the Mayor and Sherwood draws an amazing reaction in a local newspaper by New Britain's Mayor with his referring to a Zherka and his committee members accusing them attempting to fighting against his anti-blight policies. The mayor also referred to this steering committee alluding that former "Mayor Tim Stewart should call to denounce the content of the newsletter and the threats by their fellow committee member."

The Mayor's comments is a blind effort on his part to place blame to the former mayor and is dodging the real facts of his inability to lead when claiming that Zherka fighting the licensing fees on apartment owners which is an issue that is being addressed in superior court, within the near future. But what Sam's allegations are, as I understand it to be, the corruption mannerisms of no bid actions allowed by the mayor and not informing the council membership and the taxpayers that HUD refused allowing its funds to be used for Mrs. Brown's payroll but continued to meet the payments with the city's general funds in secret.

Was this part of the corruption that Sam is alluding to Mr. Mayor?

The New Britain common Council sends entertainment Complex Plan to its Sub-Committee.

At a cost of $7,500 for a study of any and all effects that will occur to the Stanley Golf Course. Studying of a miniature golf course, batting cages etc. that are to take place in the area of the planned parking area for the Costco Store.

This Costco plan was supported by Mayor O'Brien during his election for Mayor.

Could it be that there is a plan in place for the final demise to this long term plan by the common council leaving the mayor with his claim that he was for it, but the council killed it, just like Pontius Pilate our mayor will be washing his hands of the Costco proposal.

James Wardwell is New Britain's New Police Chief

Its Official with the Common Council's of New Britain confirmation Of Chief Wardwell's appointment has the city's New Police Chief.

In his tanking the Council membership for selecting him he simply turned, to the many police officers in attendance, citing "give them the credit but, when things go wrong hold me accountable."

Letter To The Editor:

1-23-13

It’s that time of year again in City Hall ... Budget Preparation time. By now, the Mayor should have received proposed budgets for 2013 - 2014 from all departments and from the Mayor himself. Last year at this time, O’Brien had done just one thing, issued a hiring freeze that he immediately violated. The rest is History. Department heads and Directors let go - one Director is still receiving full salary until next August. Many departments have been dismantled and are operating with minimally qualified interim heads and the functions of these departments have been spread all over city hall. It is rumored that city hall morale is at an all time low.

City hall employees have been muzzled and prohibited from talking with a local weekly paper. The Mayor himself rarely issues a statement unless it is OKed by his deputy chief of staff.

Deficits have been announced ranging from $4 Million to $11.5 Million to $30 Million. The Water Dept. Reserve Fund has been raided twice to erase these deficits. As written in this column before W.D. Reserves accrue from monies collected from “ratepayers” not NB taxpayers. Taxpayers will be responsible for repaying the purloined funds. Water Dept. funds are just one of a few special “Enterprise Funds” in the city budget. Those of us that have served on the Council surely remember that these Enterprise Funds are not part of the General Fund and used for special purposes only.

As part of his shady Department Reorganization Plan which has yet to be shown to the people of New Britain, O’Brien placed the W.D. under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Dept. Then, he mingled W.D. funds with the Public Works Funds, “allowing” him, so he thinks, to raid the W.D. Reserves again. I believe that is illegal but O’Brien must have received the OK from the Corp. Counsel’s office and of course, our eunuchoid Council.

When O’Brien took office the W.D. Reserves totaled about $21.5 million. I am venturing a guess that the fund is now down to about $3.6 Million. Please, somebody on the Council please challenge the assertions I have made. Or perhaps, the Water Dept. or Public Works Dept. Directors or the interim Finance Director.

Restrictive Gun Laws Cause Mass Murders!

After the massacre in Texas in 1991, the state, instead of blaming guns, sought to prevent such a massacre from ever happening again by making it possible for all citizens to arm themselves. The legislature and the governor quickly realized that it was their restrictive gun laws that actually caused the massacre by preventing honest gun owners from being able to defend themselves. To date, because most people in the state now carry guns freely, there has not been another mass shooting in Texas (except for Fort Hood where the federal government prohibits anyone from ever possessing a gun while on the base so the military victims were sitting ducks like ducks in a shooting gallery because the federal government prohibits service men and women from ever being able to defend themselves much like liberals in states like Connecticut forcibly make our teachers and students sitting ducks just waiting for the next madman to strike because of their so-called "gun free zones" where only criminals can possess guns and prey on innocent victims who are forced by law to be defenseless).

The Luby's massacre was a mass murder that took place on October 16, 1991, in Killeen, Texas when George Hennard (born October 15, 1956) crashed his pickup truck through the front window of a Luby's cafeteria shot 50 people (killing 23), exchanged shots with responding police, and then hid in a bathroom and fatally shot himself. It was the deadliest shooting rampage in U.S. history until the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre.

The difference here is that instead of using the massacre to push a liberal feel good agenda, the Texas lawmakers were determined to make their citizens safer. In response to the massacre, the Texas legislature passed a shall-issue gun law, which requires that all qualifying applicants be issued a Concealed Handgun License (the state's required permit to carry concealed weapons), removing the personal discretion of the issuing authority to deny such licenses.

The law had been campaigned for by Suzanna Hupp, who was present at the time of the massacre where both of her parents were shot and killed. She later expressed regret about deciding to leave her gun in her car (the Texas law then and now still guarantees everyone in the state the right to carry all the guns they want in their car with no permit required) lest she risk possibly running afoul of the state's concealed weapons laws; during the shootings, she reached for her weapon but then remembered that it was "a hundred feet away in my car." She testified across the country in support of concealed handgun laws, and was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1996. The law was signed by then-Governor George W Bush.

Liberals empower more and more mass shootings by preventing honest law abiding citizens from defending themselves with feel good laws that do nothing but put more people in harm's way while conservatives like then Governor George W. Bush make their states safer by encouraging honest citizens to defend themselves. Texas is the proof that more guns means less mass shootings, since virtually everyone in the state is packing a piece and there has not been one mass shooting in in 22 years--ever since the law was changed to encourage everyone to carry a gun.

If free access to guns meant more mass shootings, then there would be mass shootings throughout Texas on an hourly basis, but the facts prove just the opposite.

The USA Takeover Has Happened!

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

Unfortunately, the US liberal press make no mention of the conspiracy take over by the Obama administration with the exception to the Texas press because their newspapers lean more to the right of the spectrum. However, our Neighbors to the north, report the US News effectively including what the American press will not print, making Canada our good news source.
What problems this conspiracy is causing is the ignoring of the constitutional government of the United States which has been overthrown with all the American people having been captured.

Our President has purposely been ignoring the only law of the land, The Constitution of the United States, with all the Executive orders he has issued in order to by-pass the Congressional process and not to mention the 42 czars' he appointed to help in the process.

Only Yesterday he signed 23 such executive orders to dramatize the Sandy Hook school tragedy.

Some to the north of us believe that Obama will be our last president because he will become our dictator by executive order.

Our Founders left England establishing a great nation but our President is bringing back the European and communist infiltration into every branch of our government transforming our Republic into a tyrannical kingdom.

Gov. Rick Perry Speaks out

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Gov. Rick Perry says he's disgusted by the left using the massacre in Newtown, Conn., to advance a pro-gun control agenda.

As President Barack Obama unveiled the most sweeping proposals for gun violence in two decades Wednesday, Perry said "no gun law could have saved the children" killed in the mass-shooting.

Perry added in a statement: "The Second Amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people" and can't be limited by the president.

Obama urged Congress to pass universal background checks and bans on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.

He also used presidential powers to enact 23 measures, including ordering federal agencies to make more data available for background checks. He also directed the Centers for Disease Control to research gun violence.

Landlords file Amended Lawsuit Vs. The City of New Britain

The CTPOA filed an amended complaint against the City of New Britain requesting a temporary injunction in order to keep the ordinance from going into effect this coming April.

This new action is in response to the Common Council's action reducing the fees for large apartment complexes with the mayor reporting to the councils membership that he had met with the city's landlords when he actually only met with two city landlords.

This should be considered as a response to Phil Sherwood's remarks citing after the council took its action for the lower rates.    Mr. Sherwood was quoted in the local media citing "the court injunction became meaningless."   Thus, leaving Sherwood with a feeling of undress.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MAYOR'S FREEZE ON HIRING?

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

When first elected, our Honorable Mayor O'Brien declared a freeze on hiring, a promise that possibly lasted overnight--if that long. Almost immediately he hired Phil Sherwood and Ms. Rosemary Klotz and it didn't stop there. Soon after, he hired Mrs. Brown paying her with what the mayor told everyone were federal funds and we all now know the truth that the Mayor really used city funds to pay Mrs. Brown without advising the Board of Aldermen of his actions.
His honor also claimed to have settled the landlord issue by meeting with what he claimed was all the landlords when in reality he only met with two landlords and agreed to a lower rental fee plan only for the larger complexes. The misinformation continued to flow out of city hall with Mr. Sherwood alluding to the Court injunction now "has become meaningless" because just 2 landlords agreed to their new fee structure.

His honor made a recent media announcement declaring a new need to hire a second blight enforcement officer claiming the need to address this problem is real despite his alleged hiring freeze and with his administration in some sort of fantasy world denying that the pending court injunction still exists.

The majority of the city's landlords should be outraged with this administration's fabrications as they go along to suit or satisfy the last person they are privileged to talk with, or the last person who would even bother to waste their time listening to their latest propaganda. Of course to continually use the nonexistent blight issue to punish the majority of our city's landlords who do maintain their properties in a better condition than the city even requires is nothing more than another socialist attempt at taxing what this administration perceives as the rich so that they can redistribute more of your money to people they believe deserve your money more than you do. The track record of this administration has been clearly to do whatever they can to oppose or punish anyone who is successful whether it be a business owner or apartment owner.

All you need for a reminder is to look at the empty shopping center that used to house Walmart and remember that the people now running city hall are some of the same ones who organized radical protests in front of their business until Walmart picked up and moved out of the city—taking the tax revenue they once generated for the city and their more than 150 jobs with them. Perhaps among the weeds growing out of the parking lot of this building (that has remained vacant ever since Walmart fled) the city should erect a monument to the stupidity of O’Brien and Sherwood?

General Electric's Chairman is a Corporate Fool or The Wise Man of the Obama Administration.

Jeffrey Immelt became the leading voice in supporting the $787 billion stimulus and got himself appointed to the President's job's committee created to create job in the USA.

From that day on me. Immelt kept on sucking as many of the stimulus dollars he could lay his hand on receiving prime federal contracts for more than 100,000 contracts totaling nearly $35 Billions of our hard earned tax dollars.

What is more disgusting this Chairman was recently quoted by the news media "we're all communist now."

The liberals complained of the Halliburton's hold onto the Washington's blind eye of their enterprising ventures collecting federal funds in the process.

Why no complaints from these same liberals over GE's adding millions of jobs in China instead of the USA since Mr. Immelt was appointed by president Obama to the so called "jobs commission" in creating jobs in the USA and not "CHINA."

Income properties in New Britain are less desirable

Bankers have less interest in making loans to income property owners in the city of New Britain since the O'Brien administration is planning to place their fines and fees in front of the bank's lien on the properties.

With that in mind the state board of realtors have publicly stated that they advised its membership to not handled New Britain Properties because the city's edict has plummeted property values by some thirty per cent or more.

" First of all, a wish for a happy and healthy New Year to all !

This was an interesting editorial in many ways. The message is clear - things could be better in this world and especially, right here at home in New Britain. If anyone is looking for something or someone to blame, what you find in this editorial is a call to examine your own life and conscience.

Most people rely on some form of medium, print, TV, internet, radio, etc., to find out what is going on in this world. To me, it is important then to be able to trust these media to report what is actually happening in our world rather than reporting what those making the news would want us to think is happening. In particular, what are our elected representatives really doing rather than what they tell the media that they are doing.

This editorial is appreciated, in particular to me, because it that suggests that people should trust in their faith first, whatever that faith is. We must expect honesty and accept nothing else. "

9. Move to an incompatible environment. for retired persons

Examples would be moving to an active adult community if you hate rules, moving to a rural environment and you crave activity, or moving to a liberal environment when you are a conservative person. Visit before you rent, rent before you buy, and there will be fewer surprises.
