CT Groups to Protest to Stop Corporate Bailout at AIG Hartford Office
Hartford, CT – CT Citizen Action Group (CCAG), ACORN, CT AFL-CIO and Citizens for Economic Opportunity (CEO) today announced its participation in a national day of protest scheduled for this Thursday, Sept. 25, in opposition to the no-strings-attached, $700 billion corporate bailout plan advanced by President Bush and Treasury Secretary Paulson. The protest will take place at the offices of AIG, at 1 State Street, Hartford from 4-6PM.

thanks for the notice. seeing that the unions are against it makes me support it more! If it weren't for the unions, there wouldn't be a problem in Detroit, and that is the other bailout Congress quietly approved yesterday.

good point about the unions, they are what is wrong with the country--socialism at its best.
Three-term Democratic Common Council member Silvia Cruz vacated her New Britain council seat on Tuesday 09/16/08.
And at Annual Meeting in Hartford, CT on November 8th 2008 of CT Citizen Action Group (CCAG) New Britain resident Sylvia Cruz will also vacate her current (CCAG) Board of Directors seat.
Thanks for posting the event, it went well. There were over 100 similar protests across the country yesterday demanding main street come before wall street...

Phil, maybe you should remember this at election time. Obama is pushing hard for this $700 million bailout. It is the Republicans that are fighting it.
Was this press release published in the Herald or the Hartford Courant? I saw the article written by Rick Guiness, along with the photo of Phil Sherwood with his cute little boy by the AIG building in Hartford, but not the Public Notice to be posted.
The origins of the current Banking Mess can be found in the Community Reinvestment Act. The bill was meant to encourage banks to make loans to minorities living in unstable neighborhoods.
Based on that bill and subsequent amendments ACORN (the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) was able to intimidate banks into lower mortgage standards that paved the way for the meltdown.
Also, ACORN was holding protests trying to get a cut of the financial-market-rescue bill and only through a public grass-roots outrage was this avoided.
Senator Barack Obama was one of ACORN's Lawyers, he also trained people as Community Organizers in the Chicago public housing neighborhoods- the mission was Affordale Housing through Subprime Loans.
"anonymous" forgot to mention how much money Obama took from the financial institutions involved, he was only second to Chris Dodd (see yesteday's Hartford Courant for the $2 million list) on that list. Also what about the fact that the Republicans (including John McCain) warned of the disaster that was looming on Wall Street over two years ago, while at the same time the Democrats were praising Franklin Raines (Clinton's Budget Director) for his spectacular running of Fannie Mae. Now after Mr. Raines made $90 million before he was forced to resign as CEO, he is now one of Obama's top financial advisers for his campaign.
The Republicans warned of the impending disaster while the Democrats ignored the warnings and accused the Republicans of attempting a political persecution of the wonderful Mr. Raines. Now somehow the Dems would have you believe it is the fault of the Republicans who tried to warn you.
Want to see how bad it can get, keep voting for the Democrats and you'll find out.
Fox News just called ACORN the largest radical organization in the country, so why would you post notices for them unless you are a radical yourself?
In answer to anonymous regarding the Acorn Posting I wish to inform you that was a posting requested by Alderman Phil Sherwood for an announcement to his organization's picketing at the AIG against their obtaining financing. I saw the fox news tonight I am appaled of what this organization stands for including the connection and ties that the presidental candidate has with this organization.
In reply to your second questionairer I would much prefer to await for Senator Obamha's comments regarding the fox news report of this evening before making any conclusions as to the vality of that daming presentation.
Sean Hannity did a good job showing these radicals for what they are.
I was listening to Hannity's talk radio show today, and one Democrat after another was calling in to say that they never knew what a dangerous radical this guy is until they saw last night's show and it scared them, and they kept pledging to vote for McCain!
Alderman Sherwood has attempted to deny that Acorn was not a part of his reqested public notice. I looked over the orginal posting and Acorn did appear along with the labor unions.
