Connecticut Gas Taxes Rises four Cents A Gallon This July.

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
How about all the other products we buy at the stores throughout Conn.? The cost of delivering those products to your neighborhood stores will certainly be added to the prices at the register as you leave those stores. I recommend that you buy your gasoline, clothing, and all other purchases out of state and just maybe come election day you will vote all these Democrats that supported this outrageous tax increase out of office.

The New Britain Common Council, Under the Democratic Leadership, Voted for more bonding.

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
At Last Wednesday's meeting the Democratic Leadership of the common council approved additional bonding liabilities for $33,818,000 bringing the city's total estimated gross bonding liabilities to some $70,000,000. It is no wonder why the financial industry lowered our city's bond rating because of the leadership spending attitude of the council without considering a balanced budget by resorting to bonding their way out of their financial dilemma they have created.

New Britain Taxpayers Beware!

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
New Britain's car taxes will rise an average of $44 but the Administration is claiming "it is not an increase" due revaluation that is taken place. The mayor insist that there will be no Tax Increases
in New Britain but why are the tax payers wallets winding up empty? Come election day in November we now have a choice for who to vote for.

The Herald, O’Brien at it Again

By: Robin Vinci, Editor

I too have become disillusioned

Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, the result of a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages. How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world's largest economy, direct the world's most powerful military, execute the world's most consequential job? Imagine a future historian examining Obama's pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a "community organizer"; a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, so often did he vote "present"); and finally an unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions. He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as a legislator. And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama's "spiritual mentor"; a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama's colleague and political sponsor. It is easy to imagine a future historian looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected president? Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal: To be sure, no white candidate who had close associations with an outspoken hater of America like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant terrorist like Bill Ayers, would have lasted a single day. But because Mr. Obama was black, and therefore entitled in the eyes of liberaldom to have hung out with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were a bit extreme, he was given a pass. Let that sink in: Obama was given a pass - held to a lower standard - because of the color of his skin. Podhoretz continues: And in any case, what did such ancient history matter when he was also so articulate and elegant and (as he himself had said) "non-threatening," all of which gave him a fighting chance to become the first black president and thereby to lay the curse of racism to rest? Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama phenomenon - affirmative action. Not in the legal sense, of course. But certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws and regulations, which are designed primarily to make white people, and especially white liberals, feel good about themselves. Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat themselves on the back. Liberals routinely admit minorities to schools for which they are not qualified, yet take no responsibility for the inevitable poor performance and high drop-out rates which follow. Liberals don't care if these minority students fail; liberals aren't around to witness the emotional devastation and deflated self-esteem resulting from the racist policy that is affirmative action. Yes, racist. Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color of his skin - that's affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn't racism, then nothing is. And that is what America did to Obama. True, Obama himself was never troubled by his lack of achievements, but why would he be? As many have noted, Obama was told he was good enough for Columbia despite undistinguished grades at Occidental; he was told he was good enough for the US Senate despite a mediocre record in Illinois ; he was told he was good enough to be president despite no record at all in the Senate. All his life, every step of the way, Obama was told he was good enough for the next step, in spite of ample evidence to the contrary. What could this breed if not the sort of empty narcissism on display every time Obama speaks? In 2008, many who agreed that he lacked executive qualifications nonetheless raved about Obama's oratory skills, intellect, and cool character. Those people - conservatives included - ought now to be deeply embarrassed. The man thinks and speaks in the hoariest of clichés, and that's when he has his Teleprompters in front of him; when the prompter is absent he can barely think or speak at all. Not one original idea has ever issued from his mouth - it's all warmed-over Marxism of the kind that has failed over and over again for 100 years. And what about his character? Obama is constantly blaming anything and everything else for his troubles. Bush did it; it was bad luck; I inherited this mess. It is embarrassing to see a president so willing to advertise his own powerlessness, so comfortable with his own incompetence. But really, what were we to expect? The man has never been responsible for anything, so how do we expect him to act responsibly? In short: our president is a small and small-minded man, with neither the temperament nor the intellect to handle his job. When you understand that, and only when you understand that, will the current erosion of liberty and prosperity make sense. It could not have gone otherwise with such a man in the Oval Office. Dear Editor:

Do you read the New Britain Herald? I only receive one daily paper now so, I rely on it for New Britain news. On page 22 of today’s Herald, in the Classified Section, there were two items of interest to me; 1. a “Mayor’s Warrant” to the “Clerk of The City of New Britain” (doesn’t say whether it’s the Town Clerk or Clerk of the Common Council) and, 2., a CITY OF NEW BRITAIN LEGAL NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING. If you don’t know, special meetings do not allow public participation. The meeting call was for a meeting to take place on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 6:30 P.M. Reading the call, one learns immediately that it was to be a bonding meeting. I recall from my experience as a Council member that a 48 hour notice is required for such a meeting. Such was not the case. So’ I called a Council Member who said, “... you know more about it than I do, I haven’t received a notice yet.” By the way, I have heard that the meeting will take place on Thurs., 6/27. Reading further, I found that most of what was to be approved was bonding for “FLUFF” items, park projects like swimming pools and War Memorials renovation projects; these are all nice projects to talk about in a reelection year, but certainly not important to most taxpayers. ONE OF THE ITEMS, #23, CALLED FOR BONDING $2MILLION FOR THE “WASHINGTON ST. POOL PROJECT!” DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS A CITY POOL ON WASHINGTON ST.? THERE IS NOT!! Get a copy of today’s Herald, see for yourself. Does anybody in O’Brien’s Administration know anything about New Britain geography or the Parks and Recreation Budget that our illustrious Council passed overwhelmingly? Obviously not! What a bunch of incompetents. Evidently, the Herald is not required to proof read material given to it by O’Brien. A number of taxpayers and Herald readers have written and talked about the unintelligent O’Brien Administration. Does anyone need any more proof? How will you vote in November? Lou Salvio

New Britain Must Cut Down with its Spending

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
Nicholas Mercier, the President of the CPOA, had it right when referring to the Mayor O'Brien's "phantom budget" as continued spending and using income streams, within his budget, as being "exaggerated." One case in point is his estimating 400% increase in marriage licensing fees when it is widely known that young people are living together without the ceremony called marriage. Mr. Mayor "Cut The Spending."

Erin to Be Our New Mayor!

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
Many people I have spoken with regarding this exciting new campaign are happy that someone is challenging our carpetbagger mayor. Some say she may be too young, but Torrington's Mayor was first elected 8 years ago at the age of 22 and he is still the Mayor in that City and doing a good job of it. Some exciting new differences that Erin brings to the table is that she is a college graduate, born in this city, served on many city boards and commissions, and is a current Board of Education Member. Our real problem as both citizens and taxpayers is the fact that our current Mayor possesses little educational background (reportedly only attended one semester at Central before washing out) and has virtually no experience (unless you count his high level career as a grocery bagger at a local supermarket). What major corporation with a roughly $250 million annual operating budget would hire a grocery bagger with virtually no formal education to be their CEO? It is this total lack of any experience in the mayor’s office that is leading our city into a fiscal disaster. Some people are saying that anyone would be a better choice than the Mayor we have now, but Erin is an educated and experienced individual more than capable of fulfilling the duties as our city's Chief Executive and leading our city off its current course that is destined for failure.

Erin Stewart for Mayor Announcement - YouTube

Video By: Dwight Blint

NewsBusted show 6/18/13 - YouTube

It's official with Erin Stewart announcing her run for the Mayor's Office for the City of New Britain at the Whinstone Tavern.

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
She was supported by the Mayor of Torrington, Ct who was the youngest mayor in Connecticut, when taken office, some eight years ago at an old age of twenty two, and Mayor Boughton of Danbury was there to render his support for Erin and also was our youngest Sate Senator. Her most interesting remark was "Do you want a Mayor's Office that will tell you the truth? She received a loud cheers, lasting several minutes, from nearly a thousand supporters in attendance yelling "ERIN" over and over again. Amazingly, the local press, The Herald and the Courant, were MIA for this astounding event but, our faithful city paper "The New Britain City Journal" was there and I am sure the citizenry of New Britain cannot wait to see the upcoming edition.

Mayor O'Brien's Election Promises to Not Raise Taxes "Not Kept".

Unfortunately for all of New Britain's property owners together with all its car owners will be faced with a tax increase of 7.49 mil rate from 36.63 to 44.12 mils. My father always told me to never believe a Politician with his campaign promises unfortunately, many believed former Representative O'Brien with their votes. fs

Governor Malloy in Action

It is hard to believe that 47% of this state is made up of radicals who actually think this left wing extremist is doing a good job. I guess that explains why every day there is another news story about a major employer leaving Communist Connecticut and choosing to relocate their business to one of the remaining free states of America. Yesterday's story was about a gun manufacturer that Danny Boy ran out of the state with his new gun laws, and that employer announced plans to triple the size of his business as soon as he leaves Connecticut. When leaving Connecticut is all you need to do to triple the size of your business, don't you think people might start to wake up to the fact that Danny Boy is taking us entirely in the wrong direction? cces

While attending a local affair I was approached by an individual claiming to be a city employee citing that he is ordered "not to watch or make any comments on your Blog by the Administration of the City". If any of his claims are true, it certainly exposes the far reaching arms of the O'Brien Administration, in controlling it's employees.

Erin Stewart announced Her Candidacy For Mayor of New Britain.

Smith Photo: Of Erin while serving at a Board of Education Meeting: Citing her love for the city and the need for “new, positive leadership,” Board of Education member Erin Stewart announced today her intention to run for mayor of New Britain. “I love New Britain,” Stewart said. “I believe in this city and its people. I care deeply about our future. I am running for mayor because I am very concerned about the direction in which we are heading. We need a change. We need new, positive leadership. I will bring a fresh vision to City Hall, and I will work across party lines with residents, businesses and property owners to get things done.” Stewart said her priorities as Mayor will be to: • Increase openness to City Hall • Help the Board of Education reduce class sizes • Control excessive spending in City Hall • Spur economic development • Clean up city neighborhoods • Unite New Britain A lifelong resident, Stewart, 26, is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University. She is one of the youngest elected officials in New Britain and one of the city’s highest vote getters. “I think voters have appreciated that I talk to them straight - they respect that,” Stewart said. “And I also believe my age is an asset. I listen to people. I hear their concerns and I build coalitions to take actions to address those concerns. Our city is a great city, but we can do better. As mayor, I will be a voice for unity." Stewart said she would focus on bringing together students, high-tech companies, retailers, social service providers and artists. “Everyone should have a seat at the table in crafting New Britain’s future,” Stewart said. “Everyone’s voice should be heard. “Together, we can build a new and better future.” Stewart said she is looking forward to knocking on doors and calling on parents, students, homeowners and community leaders to discuss her vision for the city and hear their thoughts and ideas. “I am dedicated to New Britain – my heart is here,” Stewart said. “I have always put people before politics.” Prior to her election to the Board of Education, Stewart served as vice chairperson of New Britain’s Commission on Community and Neighborhood Development and head of its planning and budgeting sub-committee. In addition, she was a member of the Commission on New Britain Youth and Family Services. In 2007, she received the greater New Britain YWCA’s Women in Leadership award for her hard work and dedication to the CT Breast Health Initiative. Stewart is also a former volunteer project director and co-founder of New Britain High School’s “Youth Who Care” initiative for the CT Race in the Park. She is a former coach of the NBHS Lady Canes junior varsity softball team and she currently advises the NBHS Marching Band Majorettes. She attended New Britain public schools. Stewart’s family belongs to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

New Britain's unmentioned forgotten Budget hole by the Mayor and his common council.

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
WE can all recall the raiding of the water bureau funds for over $12,000,000.00 dollars. What has been forgotten is the fact that this money was a bond the City assumed to continue to make payments which come to $800,000 dollars annually. How is this payment along with the continued spending that the Administration continues to ignore that a day of reckoning is soon to come along without raising taxes? One knowledgeable person did predict a eight to nine mil increase is unavoidable. Even Alderman Willie Pabon had suggested a 3and 1 half mil increase months ago and was ignored by the Democratic leadership.
