ALDERMAN CATANZARO’S CONFLICTS OF INTEREST DESCRIBED TO HIM!

About four years ago I wrote a newspaper article describing the fact that your being a city employee, coupled with your being an elected Alderman, created an absolute conflict of interest while serving in both capacities until such time as you resign one or the other.

You previously submitted a proposal to the council prohibiting any of city undertakers from volunteering to serve on the cemetery commission while your boss at the city parks department is also the director of the cemetery commission. When cautioned by the Republican members of the council that both your motion and affirmative vote are presenting a conflict of interest exposure and you did vote as though who dare question “my motives?”

Your HRA connections were reviewed by the U.S. Dept of Housing and Urban Development and found that you were as an Alderman serving under the question of a conflict of interest since you are serving on the Board of the HRA city agency.

Was your attendance at the farewell party held at the Stanley Golf Course Restaurant a conflict of interest since as an Alderman you heard HRA employees support retention of the same management at one of the council meetings especially when you voted for the retention of the same management opposing your boss’ comments, the Director of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. Where you work and that of the Chair person of the Parks and Recreation Commission?

Three of these positions you hold present the case for your conflicts and we have been long waiting for you to resign from at least two of these positions in order to eliminate your conflicts of interest. Instead you have been walking around as though you own city hall and no one dare oppose you because you act like you’re “God Almighty”.

GOD help those who dare to oppose you such as the “author” of this article.

Rumors have it that you are planning to run for the office of Mayor.

Please be reminded that your God like attitudes may interfere with your successful campaign.

You are the poster child for why municipal ethics reform is so badly needed, and since the municipalities are unable to bring reform on themselves, it desperately needs to be mandated by the state.

This is the most absurd example of misuse of office I have ever seen. It is clearly someone who is out of control with power.

Boy do we need ethics reform in this state. Governor Rell should make it a priority for this legislative session to force ethics upon these municipalities and since they refuse to police themselves, the state clearly needs to establish a state agency dedicated to policing ethics in municipalities. Maybe if there were a state agency that had the power to levy hefty fines upon individuals like this for every day that the conflicts of interest continue, then we would get some action on policiing outrageous situations like this.

I almost didn't recognize him without a pizza or hamburger sticking out of his mouth. Its the first time I ever saw him without him shovelling food into his fat face! If he didn't talk with food in his mouth, he would never speak!

Just a typical DUMBOCRAT!!

A lesson for Mr. Catanzaro:

Webster's Dictionary:

ETHIC: A principle of right or good conduct.

ETHICS: Any set of moral principles or values.

Perhaps we could all chip in and buy the all might Catanzaro a copy of Mr. Webster's good book!

What kind of leadership allows this kind of unethical behavior to persist for many years? Oh, that's right, Mr. Trueworthy also has an ongoing conflict of interest that was cited by HUD as a reason for withholding the federal funds.

Where is Alderman Sherwood on all this nonsense? Isn't he supposed to be the pioneer of ethical behavior. He certainly has been quiet about these 2 guys.

As one always says
Just another fine example of the excellent leadership under the Stewart Administration!

Keep up the fine job Mayor Stewart!

think this buffoon realizes he is the laughing stock of the city?

I would complain but this is just an example of how our government is currently working at all levels. He is just a product of how our goverment works. If our goverment did work properly then he should never have gotten into those positions in the first place.

I have previously served on the Democratic Town Committee and am a former municipal employee. I have served in the past as an Assistant Registrar of Voters--Democratic, and have even served in a paid position for the Democrats. It is this kind of disgusting conduct that made me become a Republican. I came to realize that there is a desperate lack of integrity within the Democratic Party and began to feel that there is no room for someone with a conscience in their party.

THIS IS SHAMEFUL!

I am delighted to no longer be affiliated with such a disgusting group of individuals. I would sign this statement, except that I am ashamed to publicly admit I once was a Democrat. That is a stigma I would like to leave behind in my past.

I feel proud to now be affiliated with a party made up of hard working, tax paying individuals.

Without all the hard work of Republicans to pay all these ridiculous taxes, where would these liberals get all the money they so desperately seek to give away for their social programs?

would Phil Sherwood's new ethics ordinance apply to Catanzaro?

this guy's an embarrassment to himself and the city

Too bad Mayor Stewart and his supporters have abused and misused the city ethics board dating back to 2004.

That's why his (Stewart's) transgressions and cases like Catanzaro's can't be looked at and dealt with in an appropriate way.

Shouldn't the ethics Commission be investigating the reports that Mr. Catanzaro spends city time goofing off at restaurants when he is supposed to be on the clock working for the city? Isn't this alleged behavior unethical?????

Anonymous said...

you are correct that he is a poster child--for birth control!

Let's have a contest--guess how many chins Catanzaro has!

It is shocking that the Majority leader of the Council allowed the continued ethics issue to continue without issuing an order to stop.

Majority Leader has shown us all his lack of leadership for ignoring Alderman Catanzaro's lack of ethics.

Anonymous said...

Shocking? The Majority Leader has his own conflict of interest that cost the poor through a loss of badly need federal funds that were withheld due to his blatant conflict of interest, who should also be asked to resign.

Think Phil Sherwood, the champion of ethics reform, would be so quiet if it were 2 Republicans involved in such gross conflicts of interest?

It's becoming common knowledge that the 3 Mouseketeers (a euphamism for "rats") have no moral values, so they just "don't get it" about ethics. That explains the arrogance (or stupidity) of Trueworthy, Sherwood and Catanzaro. With the municipal election coming up in November, none of us should be surprised if they get their "walking papers"!

Anonymous said...

Republicans have higher standards than that.

Maybe the three Mousketeers (RATS) will learn the most important lesson of all in November:

He who laughs last, laughs the loudest!!!!!!!

TeeHee TeeHee TeeHee.

hopefully many of their loyal followers will go down with the 3 rats.
