Much to my dismay I was able to read the story covering Mr. Schroder’s meeting and discussing of The Heralds’ future with its staff on the on line edition of the Hartford Courant which including comments made by the Herald staff reporter Rick Guinness. But the Herald was dark with its on line edition regarding Mr. Schroder’s staff meeting at the paper.
On the other hand The Bristol Press rendered additional information that was not only including the changes at the Bristol Press but did include information for the Herald as well with their Blog, The Bristol. Com, that there will be one circulation director for both news papers, Ms. Brenda Kelly, with Marc Levy continuing on as the editor for both newspapers.
It is a very simple fact that the Herald must undergo a complete revamping in order to attract the return of its former readers since the newsworthy information it currently carries has very little valuable information for its readers to obtain.

This has nothing to do with the New Britain Herald. Frank, yesterday we received a new addition of The District Communicator. It is a magazine style, full color, envelope mailed
informational from Doris Kurtz to
keep parents informed about the school district. I am disgusted!
What did this cost? At a time when
layoffs are being felt everywhere
and salary freezes and salary cuts
are being delivered to save jobs, our working class city can still afford "extras" like The District Communicator. If overpriced items
like this can't be cut for cost savings, we should prepare ourselves to have continued increase requests crammed down the
taxpayers throats. Enough!
Read through the Communicator and you will find a section for "Ideas"
Here's the first idea, cancel the magazine to save money. On the back cover is a survey for parents, another place to let the BOE and Doris know to stop wasting
money on this useless BS.
This product probably equals a teacher's salary and we will have
to hear her crying to parents how we are going to have to cut staff this year.
Sounds like Rick Guinness at his old tricks again. He appears to be planning to tell his new boss what kind of reporting he will do.
How else will he satisfy his obligations to Phil Sherwack to print only the news that Phony Phil finds entertaining?
This is a perfect example to the new owner of why change is so badly needed, especially if he wants to protect his investment from bankruptcy. What is underway here at the Herald is the Tail Wagging The Dog.
From the tone of the article, Guinness and his fellow left wing loons at the Herald are clearly not happy with the political views of their new boss. I'm sure they would all be happier if someone like George Sorros would have bought the paper, but unfortunately, they don't get to choose who the owner is, the guy who is paying the bills does, but they don't seem to understand that fact. They obviousy plan to continue business as usual printing their left wing propaganda sheet to the delight of lunatics like Sherwack.
Don't forget also- at a time where there Is talk of teacher losses, either layoffs or not filling openings- administrators in the NB BOE are supposed to get 4% increases!
Also they are asking for a 7.8 million dollar increase! On top of that there will be 265 less kids. At approx 10k per kid that is another 2.5 mill!
We need a paper that will question these things. Unfortunately the mayor and out numbered Republicans on the council and BOE can only do so much.
We need a fair, balanced newspaper that will ask tough questions. It wont happen with Levy and guiness
The New Britain Herald today printed a story about the Republican State Central Committee coming to New Britain.
The problem with this story is that Frank Smith Says NB reported an extensive story about this subject way back on December 19th. This is a perfect example of how the New Britain Herald simply ignores stories that are focused on conservatives or Republicans. What other excuse could there be for them to be reporting such stale news?
The only stories of any interest to the Herald in the past have been only those that seem to be of interest ultra left liberals--especially if the story pleases a particular socialist loon on the city council. One particular Alderman seems to control the press in New Britain. It has been common knowledge among the people of this city that nothing gets printed in the New Britain Herald unless a particular Alderman authorizes it. If you don't beleive me, go back through the comments on this blog, and look at the outrageous number of New Britain residents that have been commenting on this government censorship of New Britain's only newspaper.
I believe this is the main reason for the drastic reduction in readership, because the people have grown tired of reading the communist propaganda put out by one person who believes he is the ultimate power.
If the new owner wants to succeed, he needs to take a close look at offering fair and balanced reporting to the people of New Britain for the first time!
Now we have a freshman alderman demanding department heads clear projects through him? I thought the Mayor ran the City? Oh sorry I forgot.
Since it was a park department project was he talking for Catanzaro? Not again!
What was demanded of DeMao? Frank, can you get a transcript? What did the Mayor write? Can you get a transcript of that?
The Herald didn't print any of it.
This is just another example of how drunk with power these council Democrats have become.
In our mind, The Herald died many noons ago. It’s local coverage outside of New Britain is virtually non-existent. The only local news that is regularly covered is high school sports.
Editorially it’s been a disaster, and its stories are rife with factual, spelling and grammatical errors. Bluntly, it’s an embarrassment compared to what it once was.
So our advice to the new owner is reinvest in quality reporting .
