This is the 67 or so acres of land designated for new businesses to locate in New Britain that will expand the city’s tax base. It seems that there is no urgency for this project to be readied and prepared for its first occupant to establish a presence there.
The city is in dire need to find new revenues in order to offset the state budget cuts and the demanding school budget increase request, but this valuable asset seems to sit dormant.

There is work being done at Pinnacle Heights. Before the buildings come down, they have to clean up the property surrounding the buildings. Living in the area, I see work activity there, particularly on the Long Swamp Road side of the property. Don't forget, this is a much larger project then the building torn down on Arch Street this week...it will take time! Also remember, patience is a virtue...we want this to be done right...

This project was passed approximately a year or so by the common council and we are faced as a city with lower state budget grants and a higher school budget proposal. How much virtue or patience one needs when you see a property not being utilized in producing the much need fund through taxation because slowly is the word being used in this process. And no new income to offset our increased liabilities.
Isn't that the mayor's job to see that the project is completed in a timely fashion?
Any work being performed by the goverment whether local, state or

Now, now. just stop it. This blog is meant to attack democrats. Please do not stray from the intent of spreading hate toward local democrats by suggesting the mayor may also be responsible for his actions or any other constructive criticism.

The bloggers on this issue should call one of the 13 erudite democrats on the Council to find out all the reasons why the Pinnacle Heights project has not been progressing faster. Of course they will tell you that the Mayor doesn't tell them anything and that's why they can't answer you. If you want BS, call the Ds' mouthpiece, Rick Guinness. He will lead you through this and might even direct you to Rich Marzi.
Then call the Mayor's office and ask him directly and/or call one of the two Republican aldermen that is, if you want the truth.
I don't think this blog is meant to attack Democrats especially since it is run by a Democrat. It is just that the Democrats that are in power in New Britain are so incredibly incompetent that there is an unbelievable amount of issues to attack. They are so obviously stupid that even an honest, objective Democrat has to admit to the problems they create.
I agree with frank smith says that the pinnicle project is being handled much too slowly.

Has everyone forgotten that Pinnacle Heights property is no longer owned by the City of New Britain? It has been sold to the company that brought Celebration Foods (Carvel) for over 3 million dollars. Therefore, I believe it is now part of the private sector.
As for it going too slow for anyone's taste, over 10 years ago, Mayor Pawlak appointed Donald DeFronzo chairman of the Pinnacle Heights Task Force...thousands of dollars were spent on what to do with the property, and nothing was done. Finally, in 2004 or 2005, under Mayor Timothy Stewart's watch, the ball finally got rolling. For months, the Common Council kept tabling the Pinnacle Heights development. I could go on and on, but it would be redundant.
Somebody already pointed out previously that between the 13 Dumbocrats on the council you can't combine them all to come up with half a brain between them all. What a bunch of losers.
It's amazing that the photo that appears with the original posting shows apartment buildings that look clean; why is it the photographer didn't turn around and take a photo of what has already been demolished: Slater Road to Marimac Road, where the gate to the property is located. You would than see possibly 3 backhoes, a work site trailer and other equipment. Take a ride and see for yourself what's being done. Perhaps while there, you can ask whoever the foreman is exactly what they are in the process of doing. There is also a large sign of the time frame of what's to be done.
Could it be that this incredibly cold, snowy, sleety weather is preventing some of the work to be done? The ground is probably too frozen to dig up and level.
Perhaps the Herald's reporter, Rick Guiness can go to the worksite and ask the demolition crew what the big holdup is. He might get answers that City Hall can't or won't give him...
I happened to drive by Pinnacle Heights this morning and noticed that there has been more demolition of apartment buildings in the Slater Road/Long Swamp Road area. Some large trees located next to these buildings were uprooted to make room for the demolition of the buildings. The demolition of all buildings are scheduled to be completed by late spring/early summer.
