I cannot wait for Mr. Schroeder to make his broad experiences start with his introducing the long awaited changes both from a reader's and the advertiser's view points.
We all wish him a complete success with his new endeavor.
Mr. Schroeder has enough clout to have his proposed purchase of these newspapers make the Fox 6:00PM News last week. Let's give him a chance.
Hopefully the first thing Mr. Schroeder will do is clean house and start with a fresh reporting staff. Now that is the kind of fresh start we need!
My thanks to Mr. Schroeder for wanting to continue on with the Herald. We depend a lot on the Herald for local/neighborhood news. Hopefully, he will change it back from the current tabloid format back to the way it was. True, "Inquiring Minds Want to Know", but not tabloid trash. A lot of readers do not have computers, so don't have access to on-line news, and TV/Radio news doesn't cover the neighborhood news, obituaries, etc. that many of us are interested in.

Has it occurred to you that it's the editorial staff that's responsible for this mess, and not the reporting staff?
The reporters didn't change the format to a tabloid format, or charge outrageous advertising rates, or have the newspaper carriers toss the newspaper into the middle of customers yards in the middle of a snowstorm or icestorm. It's good, old-fashioned service that is needed, as well as excellence in journalism.
A New Britain Reader says to Rick Green;
A good clean up at the Herald because their reporting has been lacking of real newsworthy items. Only three local stories per week worth reading.
While the Bristol Press not only prints local issues but their reporters submits their own blogs that also serves the interest of the readers of the Bristol area.
To verify my statement job blog Steve Collins and evaluate his many stories that is dedicated to the local interest.
With Mr. Schroeder being from out of town, hopefully political endorsements by the Herald will be less biased and more neutral, for the benefit of the residents of the city rather than the benefit of certain self-absorbed politicians.
