In recent months demands for ACORN to be investigated under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) for repeated incidents of electoral fraud have been growing.
But voting-related fraud is just the tip of the iceberg.
ACORN runs a mob-style “protection” racket known within the radical direct-action group as the ”muscle for the money” program, a lawyer told the House Judiciary Committee’s subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties today.
Lawyer Heather Heidelbaugh filed an unsuccessful lawsuit last year against ACORN, specifically, a court injunction in Pennsylvania against ACORN’s voter registration efforts in last year’s presidential campaign. (A transcript of the Oct. 29 hearing in Moyer v. ACORN is available here.)
What else is Acorn hiding
Heidelbaugh says that ACORN, which I profiled in the November issue of Capital Research Center’s Foundation Watch, has provided protest-for-hire services and extracted donations from the targets of demonstrations by shaking down those targets mafia-style. (Heidelbaugh’s written congressional testimony is available here.)
The taxpayer-subsidized ACORN network, which owes millions of dollars in back taxes, also played a major role in the subprime mortgage mess that has undermined Americans’ support for free market problem-solving and set off a worldwide chain of financial troubles.
And then there’s ACORN’s eight-year-long coverup of the million-dollar embezzlement by founder Wade Rathke’s brother. When ACORN board members Marcel Reid and Karen Inman demanded to see the financial documents, they were expelled from the group.
What else is ACORN hiding?

TEN FOLD INCREASE OF VOTERS COMING TO A DEMOCRATIC VOTING DISTRICT NEAR YOU.
COMPLIMENTS OF YOUR LOCAL "ACORN" CENSUS WORKER.
THIS MESSAGE APPROVED BY THE WHITE HOUSE, THE DNC AND YOUR LOCAL DEMOCRATIC TOWN COMMITEE.
but how many of them will be real people. didn't they have 40,000 people who were regisitered to vote in Florida and Ohio at the same time and were travelling on buses from who knows where to vote wherever ACORN wanted them to?
sounds like they all belong in prison!
Will this investigation include Sherwack and his apparent ties to this sleazy group?
these radicals are tearing this country down
Phil Sherwood should be included in the investigations...he belongs to CCAG which is very similar to Acorn, doesn't he?
Anonymous says...
Sherwack will be driving the bus to bring these people and the WFP people to the polls.
I thought Sherwood was the head radical adjitator for New Britain!

what do you expect from an organization made up mostly of thugs?
the acorn is apparently replacing the sickle and star as the modern symbol of communism.

The Clintonites and Obamanites missed this one. Once they realize this video is on the Internet they will be scrambling to remove the video.
We thought everyone knew about the Citi Bank scenario.
All along We've been saying that O'bama is the reason behind all the foreclosure problems.
Obama caused all the foreclosure problems and now he's reaping the results now that he is the President.(why is President Bush being blamed all the foreclosure problems.)
For you younger people living here in New Britain redlining was the alleged practice of drawing a red line around certain neighborhoods and not granting housing loans there.
The fact was that those neighborhoods had property that was declining in value, and their inhabitants received most of their legal income from the government and had negative income and debt repayment indicators, which effectively prevented banks from lending there under any reasonable standards - 20% down payment on buying a house - with a 20/or 30 year mortgage.
Loans actually were available for individuals who happened to live there and didn’t share these characteristics, but that wasn’t good enough for Obama and the affirmative action housing crowd.
And now Obama wants to contract out the 2010 census so these thugs can rig the outcome to make every district dominated by Democrats.
Does anyone think they could trust the outcome of a Census run by ACORN?
With any luck, they'll all end up in jail before the census starts.

Frank Smith - We corrected the problem - by replacing the letter m to spell com/
One emerging theme at the gathering TEA parties is the absence of press coverage, especially at the local and national level. For some reason, reporters and editors believe it is not news when thousands of people, all around the country, gather at TEA parties to protest the government's bailouts, trillions in debt, etc.
And yet, when a mere thirty people turned out in Connecticut for an ACORN- WORKING FAMILIES sponsored bus tour of homes owned by AIG executives in Connecticut, there were more media people covering the event than there were people on the bus.
So let's see: conservative and libertarian opposition to the government's economic initiatives--not news.
But, far left ACORN- WORKING FAMILIES opposition to the government's economic initiatives, no matter how few participate--that's news.
But of course, not a single person reading this will be surprised at the main stream media basis?
Everyone’s clamoring aboard the Populist Rage Bus...
The Connecticut Working Families Party has organized a bus trip that will make stops at Wilton, Connecticut, AIG office as well as the security-patrolled homes of AIG execs who are fearing for their safety.
“We’re going to be peaceful and lawful in everything we do,” said Jon Green, the director of Connecticut Working Families. “I know there’s a lot of anger and a lot of rage about what’s happened.
We’re not looking to foment that unnecessarily, but what we want to do is give folks in Bridgeport and Hartford and other parts of Connecticut who are struggling and losing their homes and their jobs and their health insurance an opportunity to see what kinds of lifestyle billions of dollars in credit-default swaps can buy.”
Who’s behind the Working Families Party?
The Working Families Party (WFP) is a minor political party in the United States founded in New York in 1998. The party also has chapters in Connecticut, South Carolina, and Oregon, and is working towards establishing itself in Massachusetts and California.
New York’s Working Families Party was first organized in 1998 by a coalition of labor unions, ACORN and other community organizations, members of the now-inactive national New Party, and a variety of public interest groups.
The party blends a culture of political organizing with unionism, 1960s idealism, and tactical and tactical pragmatism.
