The agency said the city has "conservative budget practices, had $13.1 million in its "rainy day" fund as of July 1, 2008, and is expected to maintain its surplus close to that level, despite the slowing economy.


I would say conservative is the key word. Mayor Stewart, Aldermen Bernacki and Salvio keep up the good work.

This is a perfect example of how Mayor Stewart has managed the city responsibly through this recession and has the city in fine financial shape to face the double digit inflation that is coming due to the trillions in new money that Obama has been printing--which is going to make your money virtually worthless.

While other cities in the state are facing massive layoffs and huge tax increases, we have neither in New Britain, thanks to Mayor Stewart.

Imagine what the mayor could do with a council that cooperated with him, instead of spending all their time trying to sabotage everything he attempts to accomplish, while at the same time trying to find more and more ways to seize your money through taxation to give it to people that wackos like Sherwood and Trueworthy believe deserve it more than you do.

There is only one thing that seems to stand out to differ between New Britain, and the rest of the cities in Connecticut that are in total financial ruin--they are all led by Democrats!

Keep up the great job Mr. Mayor!

What's really funny is that a lot of folks are starting to refer to Presidemt Obama teleprompter as his "binky."

Well, man, that binky just got a whole lot bigger. Now it's a big rear screen TV that the President refers to in getting the right pitch in his messages as a used car sales-man?

Educated people know what they think, formulate intelligent and creative ideas and concepts and can express themselves and their ideas without having to read a script to "appear" "smart".-- OBama's only talent seems to be that he's a good actor.

Ever hear how many actors, however, sound when they are not performing a script? "Uhh, umm, like, yeah, well, hey, uhhh, umm, you know, it's like, uhh..." just like Barack Obama.

The only reason the majority of people bother to tune in to Obama's TV speech is to see what his teleprompter tells him to say.

Imagine their disappointment when they found out he has thrown his old teleprompter under the bus, with everyone else and now has a new gig, a GREAT BIG FLAT SCREEN TV to read the letters off of!!

Now we can ALL see what the NEW GREAT BIG FLAT SCREEN is telling Obama to say.

Isn't this EXCITING!!!

The Tax Day Tea Party...

Just a reminder for those of you who want to send tea bags to President Obama. Just send pictures of tea bags and send them also to Phil Sherwood and the rest of the alderman in New Britain who don't seem to mind taking away one freedom after another along with their Ethics ordinance.

We are looking forward to just ordinary American Citizens rediscovering our country and the values that we used to care about and defend with our lives.

New Britain to Sell Commemorative Pinnacle Heights Bricks.

NEW BRITAIN: March 25, 2009
- The city's Pinnacle Heights public housing complex is gone but memories of it may live on, with help from bricks saved by the city after the buildings were demolished. The bricks, to be sold to the public for about $5, will come with a small plaque saying where they came from, said Mayor Timothy Stewart. He said the city made a similar effort with bricks left over after the old Fafnir factory was torn down a number of years ago, many of which were purchased by people who worked at the company.

Pinnacle Heights was built after World War II and was intended for people seeking low-cost housing. But the development gradually deteriorated and the city tore it down last year. Businesses and high-technology manufacturers are expected to build at the site, which is at the intersection of Slater Road and Osgood Avenue. The city is redeveloping the property with financial help from the state and the federal government.

Pinnacle Heights was intended as transitional housing, but people ended up living there for years, Stewart stated. It got into a bad state and became a real black hole for the city. Despite Pinnacle Heights' bad reputation toward the end, some have fond memories of living there and Stewart said the city has received inquiries from people who want a memento. Stewart himself lived in the complex for a few years in the 1960s, while he was growing up. I will definitely be the first person to buy a brick, he said.

People interested in buying one of the bricks from Pinnacle Heights should call the mayor's office at 860-826-3303 to reserve one.

This apparently came from a Democratic Alderman attempting to diminish the good Job Mayor Stewart has done for New Britain in spite of all the interference he got from the Majority Council Members.

Typical liberal tactic, Take what is positive and try to tarnish it.

New Britain has retained a good bond rating in very bad economic times. No matter how you slice it that’s good news. Look around and you still see signs of growth. Pinnacle Heights, construction next to City Hall, East Side Rest. the credit union on Broad Street, the new gym on West Main ST, a new Subway near Town Line Pizza, early signs of the coming police station on Main ST, Trinity on Main, improvements to the rest at Stanley Golf Course, the Hardware City Tavern, Celebration foods, addition to the Community Health Center, It is clear that overall the business climate has improved under the watch of the Stewart Administration here in New Britain.

The socialist left with their constant finger pointing and the everyone is a victim and needs hope and change is getting old.


On July 17, 1980 President Reagan said during his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention:
"[The Democrats] say that the United States has had its days in the sun, that our nation has passed its zenith.… My fellow citizens, I utterly reject that view."

It's good to know the city's bond rating gets a passing grade according to Standard & Poor's. It's acceptable for an economically distressed city.

But keep in mind the if the rating was expressed on a 1 to 10 scale with 1 being the best the New Britain "A" is a 6.

President Reagan tightened the belt
and with that steady growth emerged. Some of his cuts didn't win friends but he stuck to his guns and in the end he was fondly remembered and respected.

With Obama preaching to loosen the belt, he has won some friends. After his 4 year term, we can only hope he will be fondly remembered and respected.
