One resignation by Alderman Catanzaro & one more to go!

As of last Monday Alderman Paul Catanzaro resigned his post as Chairperson of the HRA Commission and or agency which exemplifies that he has one more resignation although the first resignation was a tearful one as explained to me.

Now we have one more resignation to be completed by the Alderman and that is his resignation from the city council for his infamous l3-2 vote on his ethics commission findings which violated the City Charter, section 4-7: as follows: No member of the Common Council shall be heard to speak upon, nor shall be allowed to vote upon, nor shall be appointed a member of any committee to consider, any matter in which the member has a direct pecuniary interest.

Any such violation of this provision shall be grounds for expulsion of any member violating the same………

This incident was on tape and the violation demands an immediate resignation without further consideration.

Frank,

We have a new and improved ethics ordinance. Another sets of rules the dirty bakers dozen will willfully ignore.

What a joke!

Time to move on Frank, time to move on. Maybe you are right about Paul but it is time to move on...

After how many months of deliberately stalling, Alderman Catanzaro has finally resigned from the HRA. This begs the question, why? I doubt that Mr. Catanzaro had a sudden change of heart. My guess is that forces within the HRA have asked him to resign so that funds currently being withheld by HUD are released.

Some have opined that Alderman Catanzaro is gearing up for a Mayoral run. I also believe that is unlikely. There is far too much baggage and with the ethics guru and ccag activist Phil Sherwood seemingly running the ship over at the DTC my bet is that fellow ccag member/donor Tim O'Brien will be the Democratic challenger.

With the elections approaching and with the history of the DTC abandoning mayoral candidates on election night one can only guess.

Moderates and conservatives alike should be prepared for a full frontal attack by the socialist wing of the Democratic Party.

My best guess is that they will attempt to gain control of the State Democratic Party

I expect them to run

Ned Lamont for Governor,
Phil Sherwood for State Rep.
Tim O’Brien for Mayor

It has become clear to me that the Socialist wing of the Democratic Party has overtaken the agenda of the Democrats. Unfortunately with a large percentage of the voters being “pull the party line” voters it is going to be an uphill battle to educate them that this wing of the democrats does not represent what they stand for. The socialist left are more aligned with the former soviet puppet leaders and current Fidel wanna be’s that they and their ancestors fled from in the first place than the JFK’s and even Bill Clinton’s of the moderate Democrats that they believe the party should represent.

Keep an eye on Catanzaro though; I think that there is something in the works over at the New Britain DTC. John McNamara is not above selling out to the far left; in fact he is the far left.

Alderman Catanzaro voting record at the regular NB Common Council meetings and sub-committees as being an anti- business alderman.

Yes, Catanzaro resigned from the Presidency of HRA but not before he took a trip to Washington on the HRA's dime. Wow, such contrition and courage. You can bet that HUD will be informed. When will Catanzaro resign from the Council or quit his job with the Parks dept.?

IT IS TIME FOR MR. CATANZARO TO MOVE ON! HE HAS PUBLICLY COMMITTED AN OFFENSE THAT MANDATES HE BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE AND WE INTEND TO MAKE SURE THE PUBLIC REMEMBERS THAT HIS SERVICE AS ALDERMAN FROM THAT DATE FORWARD IS CONTRARY TO LAW!

It appears to me that Frank Smith is doing the right thing by trying to get the council to do their job and enforce the existing law.

Keep up the good work!

when the council is allowed to break the law with impunity, then why should the rest of us obey the law?

Do you think that Lou Salvio would get a "pass" if he committed such a violation that the city charter mandated his removal from office?

I would think not. Phil Sherwack, the self-proclaimed Czar of Ethics, would shout it from the highest mountain top that Salvio must go. Where is Phony Phil to demand Catzanzaro's removal from office?

This is a perfect example of what a total phony hypocrite that Mr. Sherwack really is. If he believed in ehtical behavior, it would mean ethical behavior by all.

Frank,
Haven't you been reporting on this for about 4 years? When is the crookedness on the council gonna stop?

This is about the most ridiculous defiance of the public trust that I have ever witnessed especially when you look at how his cohorts have been covering up his misdeeds.

It is frightening to think that someone as out of control as this guy is allowed to just keep going and going and going and no one in city hall sees a problem with that.

This is the kind of shameful conduct that made me ashamed to be a Democrat, and is what made me switch my registration to Republican because I no longer wanted to be affiliated with a group of people that would act like this.

Just yesterday, Sean Hannity asked his radio audience if there are any honest Democrats in America.
He must have been to a New Brtiain Council meeting to have come to such a concludion.

Shall we call this the Catanzaro Law?

City of New Britain Charter, Section 4-7:

…No member of the Common Council shall be heard to speak upon, nor shall be allowed to vote upon, nor shall be appointed a member of any committee to consider, any matter in which the member has a direct pecuniary interest. Any violation of this provision shall be grounds for expulsion of any member violating the same….

Why don't we get Bernie Madoff transferred to New Britain on a work release program? From what I know about "Little Mac," Madoff possesses all the Democratic qualities that "Little Mac" would desperately seek in a mayoral candidate!

That is the exact same reason I switched over, 5-1/2 years ago..I haven't regretted the move at all.
