If so why is he calling the mayor a liar?
There are two other checks or sales pending along with the Pinnacle Heights deal. One for a pending sale of the Hospital For Central Connecticut Garage form the City and the other is a sale of the lot at Main and Chestnut Streets with a land lease agreement for the New Police Station site.
It oblivious, if this remark below is from an Alderman,tomorrow’s council meeting may be already geared up to dismiss what is being proposed by Mayor Stewart in his attempting to obtain the Council’s approval to negotiate all three pending deals which would require the Council’s approval of the negotiated results at a subsequent council meeting.
Could it be that the comments below, is from an alderman of the council, and they have made up their minds to mess up any financial gain for our city with their political tactic?

I doubt seriously that Alderman Phil Sherwood would submit such a stupid comment. I think he knows better. If he were to make such a comment he should go to jail. The 2008 NB Budget is the Budget approved by the Common Council,NOT THE Mayor! If you want to read really stupid comments on that same artice, read those of, e.g., Vinny, Diane, Myra and "anonomous."

Majority Leader Michael Trueworthy said he was not confident the deal would go through given Stewart’s track record.
Well I guess we know where the Dems are going with this.
Also the ignorance shown on the Heralds comment section is astounding. But hey that’s the way your democratic majority likes it!
They all seem to forget who was running the show at the housing authority when it went to hell.
Rep Defronzo would you help us remind the citizens that you ran those housing projects into the ground? Or are you to busy working on train stations for Bristol and Plainville for your train service that will only run through town? I guess we can fill up vacant buildings with freight, instead of businesses that provide jobs? I nearly lost my breakfast when I read that.
Mr. Defronzo, Sherwood, Trueworthy, McNamara, and Ms. Bielinski how many times are we going to propose “breakthrough” ideas only to abandon them for the latest trend? How much money of ours did you spend studying the bus route to Hartford? Millions I suppose.
New Britain voters need to wake up before our city and state representatives’ short change us again. We can no longer afford to take the brunt of shortsighted thinking.
Stop trying to use economic realities to gain politically. It is beginning to border on criminal.

The majority of those I speak to are upset as myself and will vote for those who will represent us.

the council doing everything to tear the city down, instead of working for solutions
they will somehow turn the blame on the mayor for their own political gain
most people are too clueless to understand that the mayor is powerless to do anything without the approval of the 13 Democrats who work their hardest to obstruct him.
If anyone thinks tht the NB Dems on the Council are finished with their stupidity, stay tuned, the Dems will amaze you on Wednesday night. Look for it!

NEW BRITAIN - At it’s Wednesday Night June 24 meeting the NB Common Council voted to refer three Resolution to it's Subcommittee - Resolution No. 7, No. 8 and No. 13 for a Public hearing at the Common Council Planning, Zoning and Housing Subcommittee.
Resolution No. 7 deals with the sale of 60-acre Pinnacle Heights property to developer Tartagalia Associates for $5 million dollars.
Resolution No. 8 is for the sale of property at 121-131 Main St. to Arête Development Group for $2 million dollars.
And, Resolution No. 13 is a proposal to terminate the ground lease for the George A. Quigley Parking Garage with the Hospital of Central Connecticut.
The Planning, Zoning and Housing Subcommittee meets on the First Tuesday following the first Monday of every month at 7:00pm in Council Chambers at City Hall.
The next meeting of this Subcommittee is July 7, 2009 at 7:00pm.
