TRIAD Seeking Fans For Senior Citizens
June 4, 2009

NEW BRITAIN –

The New Britain TRIAD is looking for donations of fans that it will give to senior citizens this summer to help cool their residences.

The TRIAD program distributes fans annually; last year it gave out between 100 and 150 fans to senior citizens, said police Officer Carol Zesut, who runs the program.

Zezut said the fans will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis as soon as donations start coming in. New fans can be dropped off at the New Britain Senior Center, 55 Pearl St., Monday through Friday. For more information call Zesut at 860-826-3081.

Donations have come from a number of sources in the past. Zesut said in past years student volunteers from the city's parks and recreation department collected cans and used the proceeds from redeeming them to buy fans for the program.

The TRIAD program is a 12-year-old collaborative effort on the part of the police department and other city agencies to help senior citizens. Zezut said TRIAD has distributed fans every summer since it was founded.
