It is clear from Obama's recent comments that he intends to ignore the court and continue to push affirmative action anyway.
Genetically speaking (Michael Jackson and other humans notwithstanding) leopards can't change their spots. In many respects, humans are like leopards but in others, environment has a great deal to do with how their personalities develop. Sotomayor has already shown that some of her "ethnic spots/feelings/philosophies" are also too ingrained to change. These firemen and women should be installed in their earned positions immediately. Sotomayor has has by her actions that she is not ready to adjudicate ethnic or racial discrimination issues.
