Downtown NB - The New Economic Engine - The Arete Development Group:

A prime example of waste of downtown NB resources is the failure of that strip site of buildings at the corner of Main and Chestnut streets in downtown New Britain.

Half a block of historic structures including the old Strand Theater were demolished to make way for buildings that were never fully occupied and ended up being torn down 30 years after its construction.

The worst part was that its empty hulk helped drag down New Britain’s downtown for decades. What is important now is to understand why these buildings were such a failure so that the Arete Development Group - the master developer of this site don’t make the same mistakes not only at this site but elsewhere in downtown New Britain.

Don't worry so much about this one block. If the Democrats in the legislature get their way with their multi-billion dollar tax increase that includes a 25% income tax on all business income, the last thing you will need to worry about will be this corner.

All of downtown New Britain will be vacated almost overnight as businesses from across Connecticut flock to relocate to business friendly states.
