Letter To The Editor by; Unnamed Reader
At least 8 Council Dems and the citizens of NB are subject and subjected to the will and stupidity of people like Mike Trueworthy, Phil Sherwood, Suzanne Bielinski, Greg Gerratana and Larry Hermanowski. The other eight Dems are in some cases, very nice people but simply serve as sure votes. These eight are “bullied by Trueworthy and his five henchmen and women. For example, Mike Trueworthy assumes – has no written authority anywhere - the roles of: leader of Public Participation at Council meetings; leads public hearings at subcommittee meetings even though the committee chairs are there; assumes the role of approving the Council Meeting agenda; runs roughshod over the Council Secretary; bullies city hall personnel especially department heads. As a matter of fact and printed record, the Mayor has had to stop this latter violation. Still, Trueworthy can and does de facto threatening of these people knowing he controls a 13 vote plurality on the Council through the 13 – 2 majority of the the Council Dems. You may why? Why would people allow themselves to be used like that? Think it over, you’ll come up with the answer yourself. Last Tuesday and Wednesday, two Council subcommittees, A,F & Law (Wed.) and, P,Z & Housing (Tues.) met. In each case Democrats impugned the veracity of potential developers and professional people. To what end? To try to embarrass the Mayor !! What was accomplished. Were these actions designed to help NB citizen taxpayers? A potential developer almost left NB holding a $5million bag and a professional auditing firm is in the position of taking legal action against the Common Council/City. In the process, the potential for lowering property taxes and creating jobs diminished. So much for boosting the economy. Obama would be proud. These Council reprobates represent Tim O’Brien, John McNamara, Acorn, Phil Sherwood, Mike Trueworthy Barack Obama, etc. Do you want more of this in November?And lately, these reprobates have enlisted the stupidity of Rick Guinness (“my brain is fried “) and other dusty old clueless Dems to try to help them. Try to find out who’s funding Rick Guinness' profanity laced diatribes against the Mayor and the Minority Leader of the Council. Do voters want this kind of behavior or progress?

The mayor was correct in saying that he is embarrassed that people like Sherwood and Trueworthy are so-called representing the city.
What an embarrassment to the entire city.
The problem is that we cannot defend ourselves against them, not only because of the sheer force of the numbers but the inadequate leadership in the RTC. We have had the Same Old- Same Old for years!
This blog which I do appreciate does not seem to encourage any criticism of the Republicans in town.
If we had good sharp Republicans running the RTC and the CPOA, we could take on these people who are unfit to be on the Common Council.
Please, young sharp Republicans, step up to the plate. We desperately need you.

Obviously this person never read your articles about the garage security cameras, otherwise he couldn't say you don't criticize Republicans or the mayor.
It may seem one sided only because the Democrats are involved in so much stupidity that you could run out of ink writing about it.

NEW BRITAIN: We learned a long time ago to respect those who earn our trust. Now, Alderman Gregory Gerratana's mother is on the state ethics commission - Don't you think that Sherwood and Trueworthy and Gerratana with his mother's political sense would have nailed Mayor Tim Stewart with SOMETHING if there was ANY evidence - so why did the Aldermen launch their conspiracy theory about the City auditor Blum Shapiro and Mayor Srewart cooking the books.

I doubt if Terry Gerratana would try and nail anyone...I'm surprised she hasn't tried influencing her son to back off from Sherwood's ilk.

Many city republicans are so disgusted with the current leadership of the Republican Party that they refuse to have any part whatsoever with them. Why do you think that the RTC had to endorse Independents and Democrats to run in this next election?
They did not have to endorse independents and democrats. There are qualified Republicans but the RTC chooses to ignore them. Figure

We received a phone call about a meeting to be held with all of the Consolidated School District of New Britain's paraprofessionals. This meeting is being called by the Union President, Mrs. Saccente. Also expected at this meeting is going to be mayoral hopeful, current state representative Tim O'Brien.
We were bewildered by this phone call and did not understand why we are being called to attend a meeting with Mr. O'Brien. We were told that is was so O’Brien can "hear our concerns" and help us figure out an "action plan" for “better benefits” for us paraprofessionals employed in the City School System.
Mr. O'Brien has been a member of our state delegation for over six years and New Britain Alderman for 5 years and NOW he wants to meet with us for the first time in 11 years with all of us paraprofessionals on one on one basis for “better benefits”.
Hmmm... 11 years - something smells fishy here about Mr. O’Brien’s motives.
Just because disgruntled republican rich marzi left the party doesn't mean he speaks for the party as a whole. The hb republicans have always and WILL always be unified behind Stewart and his team. The REASON the rtc endorsed a combination slate was to prove a damn point that the do nothing new Britain democratic council needs to go. We need people who live and care about our city rather than the power. That beign said someone should shut marzi up, and get rid if this council!!!! Vote team Stewart!!
Rumor has it the Democratic Town Committee will only endorse Democrats who are on the Democratic Town Committee...all the decent ones have dropped out of the DTC. No matter they would be good election material...If they don't fit MacNamara's critera, forget it!!

I FOUND THIS COMMENT SHOCKING IF IT IS TRUE. THIS GUY IS RUNNING FOR MAYOR, WHICH MEANS HE WILL REPRESENT THE CITY AND THE TAXPAYERS, AND HE IS GOING TO MEET WITH A CERTAIN GROUP OF SCHOOL BOARD EMPLOYEES BECAUSE THEY BELONG TO A CERTAIN UNION THAT SUPPORTS HIM, TO HELP THEM STRATEGIZE FOR BETTER PAY AND BENEFITS FROM THE CITY--WHICH MEANS YOU AND YOUR WALLET. THIS SOUNDS MORE LIKE THE ACTIONS OF A COMMUNITY AGITATOR THAN THAT OF A CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND SERVES AS A PERFECT EXAMPLE AS TO WHY THIS INDIVIDUAL IS NOT FIT TO BE MAYOR.

Apparently the elitist O'Brien thinks that as mayor he would be able to just do what he wants and barter deals with BOE unions.
In case none of you have taken notice lately, the New Britain Republican Town Committee has added several new members to it's ranks over the last few months...many of them young, professional people who want to make a positive difference in the future of New Britain. Pay attention this election year..The Republicans are out to change New Britain for the better!!

Why wasn’t the rest of the RTC made aware of this line-up prior to the nomination meeting?
Being nominated for an office is an important occasion, why was it that many of those being nominated weren’t even in attendance? Is this what we can expect of them if they get voted in on the Common Council?
Why was it that the members of the RTC weren’t given the opportunity to ask questions to these people who were being nominated? Was it because if we had the opportunity we would have found out that many of these people were not able to think for themselves and stand on their own 2 feet?
Rich Marzi is what I would call a Stewart Republican. A Stewart Republican is one who only is a Republican because of Tim Stewart in hopes that Tim Stewart will do what they want him to do and when he doesn’t they get angry and walk away from the Republican party. We know that because as soon as he and Stewart had a disagreement, Marzi went back to his true roots and showed his real colors.
Tim Stewart is always recruiting Democrats to join the RTC regardless of what they believe. It is clear that Stewart doesn’t care if their convictions line-up with the convictions of the Republican Party as long as they are willing to be a Stewart Puppet, they can join. Funny thing is Tim Stewart doesn’t even attend the RTC meetings. In the past year I believe he was in attendance 2 maybe 3 times.
I will say this; Mr Pabon has my committed vote. I have much respect for those who are willing to standup to those who attempt to dictate to others what they will do, as they did with Mr. Pabon, telling him that he was going to run at large and not by his ward. When Mr. Pabon withdrew from the nominations you could have heard a pin drop. You see Mr. Carver, there are good republicans who can think for themselves and not yield to your foolishness.
The Republican Party has been quickly going down hill since Mr. Carver has taken over. Membership is down, moral is down and worse of all the convictions that define who the Republicans are, are being compromised by those who call themselves Republicans but are not. His leadership is lacking in so many ways and on so many levels that it is embarrassing, to say the least. Do the party a favor Mr. Carver, resign!
Did anyone consider that maybe the mayor doesn't always have time to sit around at endless party meetings because he has a city to run, and there are issues that require his immediate attention??
Isn't that why we elected him in the first place, because he always seems to put the needs of the people before his own? I can't remember ever hearing him publicly taking credit for accomplishments or decisions that were for the benefit of the city. Can we say that about the council Dems?
The one thing I have always respected about Mayor Stewart is that you never have to worry about hidden agendas and where he stands on an issue. There is one thing that anyone who knows him is true, and that is he will tell you what he thinks. How can you not respect someone who isn't afraid to let you know where you stand? You may not always agree, but you will know where he is on a subject.
I find it interesting and eye opening the response that you just gave about the mayor. I must admit you are correct about it. The mayor loves to tell people where they stand…your words not mine. Poetic Justice? I believe so!
