Once again Alderman Sherwood promotes his anti-Stewart agenda by issuing a press release on behalf of the unemployed Marzi, Alderpersons Black, Cruz and others who speak little criticizing the changes being proposed to the blight ordinances. Then press the flesh O'Brien states that he is running on a campaign to reduce blight amongst other issues more important to the city. Where did these yahoos come from? The people of NB elected these loons to elected offices does not speak well for the city. People do the city a great service and dump this chump along with his cronies for more sensible city oriented people for the sake of the city! Get the broom and sweep the common council of this type of trash forever!
This should prove to be another theatrical event with a star performance by Sherwood, Trueworthy and theatrical company.

The Common Council will meet at 7 p.m., in room 202, City Hall, 27 West Main Street.
Tonight's meeting should be as scripted as King Obama's town hall meeting in New Hampshire was yesterday.

Jim Craven's article on blight in today's Herald is full incorrect information spewed by little Mac, mayoral candidate O'Brien and Phil Sherwood. It is unclear whether comments attributed to some council people were made directly to the reporter or were simply written by Phil Sherwood as part of his press release.
One thing is true, these yahoos will stop at nothing to disrupt positive initiatives promoted by the Mayor.
In the New Britain Herald comments section independent voter wrote on Aug 12, 2009 2:14 PM:
Alderperson Black's statements are disgraceful. Out right lies. One would have to presume that she could request "FREE" documentation pertaining to fines levied and collected by the building commission!!
It appears that with all the talk about FOI some alderpersons believe that when the council adopts an ordinance that requires city departments to release records and information in a timely manner when requested to do so that it was only meant for trying to bog down the current administration.
Alderpersons Black, and Sherwood voted in favor of this. Did they forget it existed?

Have any of the Council members interviewd Mr. Wiatr, head of the building inspectors to find out exactly what his staff does? Perhaps Mr. Wiatr can offer some insight in this matter. It just may be what Aldermen Salvio and Bernacki need to get stronger support for their proposal to the anti-blight ordinance.

Isn’t this last statement ridiculous? Doesn’t it sound like O’Brien?
Sounds like O'Brien's fellow liberals are attempting to protect him during an election from the public finding out that he wrote a defective ordinance when he was an alderman. They would have brought less attention on themselves if they just did the right thing and fixed it, but that is something these council Democrats seem unable or at least unwilling to do. Everything that happens must be turned into a partisan fight. Why can't they just trust the unanimous decision of the building commission who endorsed these changes as the right thing to do?
After questioning her integrity I would like to offer an apology to Alderperson Black. I am sorry, I was led to believe that you were responsible for the quotes in the Phil Sherwood press release.
On the other hand I would like the state ethics committee to investigate and reprimand Alderman Sherwood. The apparent willful misrepresentation of a fellow alderperson for the sole purpose of advancing/blocking legislation is a grievous attack on the trust bestowed to him when he won the last election. As a proponent of various FOI and ethics rules changes Alderperson Sherwood undoubtedly was well aware of the violation of his sworn oath.
Mr. Sherwood should resign.
