PINNACLE HEIGHTS DEBACLE BY THE DEMOCRATS OF THE COUNCIL PROPERTY SUB-COMMITTEE

The debate intitiated by the Democrats at tonight's meeting nearly torpedoed the sales contract of this long time discussed “TURNOVER” of the property to a qualified developer and his partner.

If it wasn’t for the persistence of Alderman Louis Salvio, the Democrats would have succeeded with their desire to make the Mayor’s proposal appear to be the wrong direction for the city. Alderman Paul Catanzaro expressed his desire to table this matter. The Majority Leader, Michael Trueworthy, at first expressed that he would vote "no" but later recanted his first statement by adding an amendment to the motion that was acceptable to the developer.

As I already stated: Alderman Salvio did a fantastic job in salvaging the proposal from being torpedoed by the Democrats in their never ending zeal to sandbag any of the mayor's initiatives for their own political expediency

Alderman Phil Sherwood, who expressed reservations on the earnestness of the developers, asked pointedly if they were really serious contenders for the project.

“Where’s the beef,” Sherwood asked after listening to a presentation by Consoli.

Maybe Sherwood should get together with Platoz and they could find some all beef hot dogs?

After reading the Herald story, it is obvious that there was only one thing in the plan of the Democrats, and that was to derail this plan at all cost so they could lie about what happened and place the blame on the mayor. This is just another chapter in their endless childish games to further their left wing agenda under the leadership of John McNamara. They were willing to forfeit $5 million of your money just to play their silly games. Is this how you want your city managed?

CITY OF NEW BRITAIN ALDERMEN TAX DELINQUENT HALL OF SHAME!

As of March 4, 2009

1. Alderman Lori A. Rocha: $813.78

2. Alderman Rolando “Roy” Centeno: $537.51

3. Alderman Tonilynn Collins: $348.93

4. Alderman Paul D. Catanzaro: $227.72

One thing we all know for sure is that the Democrats on the city council love to spend other people’s money! They love to find ways to raise your taxes and ways to give your hard earned money away to other people, people that they seem to believe deserve your money more than you do, even though you worked hard to earn it. One thing at least four of them doesn’t seem to like doing is paying their own taxes!

I could not attend last nights meeting but I am not at all surprised by the actions of a few of the council members. The Stanley Golf Course comes to mind when developers wanting to poor money into our city were met by opposition from our council. It appears this group of beavers were
out to build a damn again.

That we have an interested developer AT ALL during these times
is amazing. Most of our council members do not work in the private sector and have little knowledge of
how business works and how it isn't working at all during this
very depressed economy. Maybe if
they were dealing with profit and loss and commercial lending they wouldn't be acting so stupidly instead embracing and assisting those who are still trying to provide progress for New Britain.

The problem we have is voters go to
the polls with absolutely no idea what goes on in New Britain with the "Beavers" and the beavers know this. How to get the word out to the voter?

WOW! Let's see, press time AT THE HERALD is about 9:30 p.m. The first comment is logged in at 12:30 a.m. (FROM THE HERALD BLOG/COMMENTS) Must have been a disgruntled, WalMart protester. Who could that be?
Because of thievery, WalMart left Slater Rd.; went to Farmington Ave. Now, because of the same problem there, they are leaving NB for good. The midnight blogger also seems to wish that NB didn't have Papa's and Carvel - maybe he's one of the Council tax scofflaws. Maybe he prefers emptiness and no jobs. What do you think of that, O'Brien?
By the way, WalMart, now (yesterday) has a person at the store exit doing a perfunctory sales slip check and a NB policeman on duty - kind of like locking the barn door after.... What say you, O'Brien?

Alderman Lou Salvio to the rescue again!! The council can use 13 more like him and Mark Bernacki. The others want to make New Britain the Welfare City of America...
Guess what??? It ain't gonna happen!

I thought Walmart was leaving, after being pushed out of the city by repeated protests by radicals in front of their store? What do you think?

With his eminance John MacNamara in the audience, were the Dems speaking up to make points with him with their "intelligent" questions and remarks? It may work with him, but not with others in the audience. Some in attendance appeared ready to burst out laughing, especially at Sherwood.

To put it bluntly, but honestly, Sherwood, Cantanzaro and Trueworthy are idiots. Their campaign promise was to lower taxes and bring businesses to New Britain. Here we have a developer willing to invest millions of dollars in our city and Sherwood’s response is “Show me the Beef”. What is he thinking? Do any of those idiots have a full brain between them?
Please ….New Britain voters, vote them out in November. How much more embarrassment must us TAX PAYING citizens have to put up with their shenanigans? And Phil Sherwood, don’t send out political flyers promising that you will be working on keeping our taxes low when you throw one road block after another at any potential developer wanting to set-up a business in New Britain

The last time I was at a council meeting, I looked around the head table and was hard pressed to come up with one brain between the 13 idiots combined--at least that is my opinion. Take the time to attend a meeting and open your eyes and see exactly what is running this city.

Very scary stuff!

I was listening to Rush Limbaugh this afternoon, and Rush was going on and on describing someone who he said never ran a business, never had to run a payroll, and never accomplished anything much other being a community agitator. Rush kept saying things like "that's who he is" and "he's nothing but a community agitator." I was thinking to myself it was impressive that Rush actually knew Sherwood, but it turned out that he was really talking about Obama.

“Where’s the beef,” Sherwood asked after listening to a presentation by Consoli. (could anybody really be that brain dead like this guy who clearly doesn't get it?)

It sounds to me that Sherwood has a beef with forward progress.

Sherwood ought to try making an honest living for a change, maybe then he would understand that forward progress takes commitment and hard work, two things Sherwood knows nothing about.

Apparently Mr. Sherwood doesn't understand the enormous risk this gentleman is making in investing $5 million of his personal money into the City of New Britain, and would most likely criticize him for making a profit if his investment proves successful.

Jim Craven's article in today's Herald was rather nice to Council Democrats. He referred to the comments made at the PZH meeting as partisan bickering. As a member of the audience, I had a different take; I found the comments made by Council Democrats, directed to/at the potential developers as both childish and insulting. I offer a couple of examples directly from Craven's article:

[Alderman Phil Sherwood, who expressed reservations on the earnestness of the developers, asked pointedly if they were really serious contenders for the project.
“Where’s the beef,” Sherwood asked after listening to a presentation by Consoli.] And from three other democrats:
[ "Other aldermen Paul Catanzaro, Michael Trueworthy and Lori Rocha argued that they expected, and wanted more from the developers because of previous experiences."] BUT THEY COULDN'T SAY WHAT MORE THEY WANTED!! The Democrats were told repeatedly by Atty. Consoli that no more information could come from the developer unless the developer achieved "site control", something one doesn't get without attaining ownership of the property. What do these current/p[optential developers have to do with "previous experiences?" And then there was the idea of "due diligence." Do Council members know what that means? Did Council members do their "due diligence?" Apparently not! Trueworthy didn't understand the the entire 60+ acres was being sold!!! Imagine that. And he is Majority leader! Partisan bickering? NO! Downright attempt at obstructionism? Correct! Fortunately, the developers have enough respect for the Mayor and the citizens of New Britain, something about which Council Democrats know nothing.

Does "due dilligence" include paying one's taxes if you are an elected official?

I meant to post this here...

Let's see if Sherwood, Trueworthy and company provide the public with their usual obstructionist tactics.

Lets see how often Sherwood, O'Brien, McNamara, Trueworthy and company slander the developers and current administration with innuendos and then try to paint the sale as a benefit to city republicans. Such as the way the chairman of the Democratic Party insinuated that Mayor Stewart refused to speak to Reps from WAL-MART!!!

These guys will stop at nothing to destroy the current administration including poisoning a potential development that may be the impetus for future investment and development in town.

These are all interesting comments...If the bloggers here all wrote a letter to the editor expressing these views, more of the public would be more informed about what the Dems on the council are really like, and may bery possible vote them all out of office...what do you all say???

Nice idea, but I think our problem with the letter writing suggestion is that the liberal biased newspapers hand pick only the letters that support their own liberal agenda to print.
