August 20th. Is the first anniversary of this “BLOG”. The reason for the start of this blog was told to a few friends and someone did blog the information along the way.
When there was a vacancy on the common council because Alderwoman Cruz had moved out of my district, I approached Alderman Sherwood asking to be appointed to the vacancy to replace her. I was immediately advised that I would not fit because I am not Puerto Rican and that this vacancy had to go to a “PUERTO RICAN”.
This blog was started the very next day to show the public how bad the Democratic controlled council has emerged into an ultra liberal organization spending the taxpayer’s money like drunken sailors on shore leave with no regard for our citizens.
Thanks to the input from many of my readers, the site has grown into a public forum for the latest news, local events and political commentary. To date we have celebrated about 208,000 visits to more than 1,200 stories that have been posted on the site and a continuing input of ideas and comments from a constantly growing number of readers.
I continue to enjoy your comments and welcome your input as a way to help this site grow for the sharing of news and ideas that impact our community.

Our local community our beloved City of New Britain should be our main focus.
We struggle with political divide, high taxes, education, poverty but right now the issue of health care reform in America is paramount to the well being of New Britain. This single goverment issue if passed without responsible planning has the potential to bring
inner cities such as ours to new lower level of health care. While many look for a national plan as the answer consider these facts for our city: Inner city hospitals are already stretched and many run in the red due to the high number of residents already receiving goverment paid healthcare. There is a huge disparity between services being paid by private insurers and those on social services. If a goverment run shift to health care moves in any inner city to more lower paying and slower paying
goverment insurance our care will certainly move to a new low. Hospitals are not non-profit
organizations they need to make money to be progressive and provide
excellence in health care. Should our goverment get this ill-prepared
reform bill through do you think that the Hospital of Central CT will do as well as a hospital in
Greenwich? No. Once again the wealthiest will prevail and the middle class, working class and the poor will suffer.
The people we elect this fall will work with our state representatives who work with our
congressional members. Be certain that your vote goes to solid candidates that truly have the bests interests of the residents of
New Britain on all levels. Taxes, safety, education and excellent health services for our city hospital and Emergency Medical Services.
Tim O'Brien has thrown caution to the wind in pursuit of liberal ideology. Do you trust him to lead
our city?

Sounds like you are the one with the extremist views. Did you forget about the infamous Alderman Catanzaro and his long list of conflicts of interest. How about the one with HRA where he cost the city badly needed funds because the federal government withheld funding to programs because of his blatant conflicts of interest???
Doesn't that deserve him your vote for re-election?
Maybe he just isn't comfortable having a convicted felon in control of a $10 million annual budget. In fact, wasn't the mayor looking for some questionable transaction involving Mattabasett???????????????

Wasn't Trueworthy's conflicts of interest named by the federal government in this withholding of funds too!
Congratulations, Frank. Keep us posted on the continued shenanigans of the Working Families Party (WFP). Today's Herald reported that the WFP has already cross endorsed Catanzaro and Trueworthy even though both have been cited for numerous conflicts of interest that you reported often. The WFP said they will endorse other candidates, probably tax evaders Centeno, Rocha and Collins. They have also endorsed payer of no taxes (till now) Gerratana and chief foot-in-the-mouth bad guy, Sherwood. Par for the course if the NB Democrats reelect Democrats to anything.

To steal a phrase: Here in lies the problem....
It appears that having moderate fiscally responsible views is extreme to the socialist wing of the Democratic Party.
Anyone who dislikes the apparent extremist slant of the New Britain Herald has the ultimate veto--don't read it.
I gave them another chance when the new owners took over and once I decided that they were as extreme in their liberal views as the New York Times, NBC and others, I stopped reading it. I haven't looked at the Herald in several weeks. I have come to the opinion that even the Courant is more conservative.
If more people adopted that attitude, who would they be reporting to?
Thanks, Frank for giving us the opportunity to vent. Still nothing in The Herald about Chris Murphy avoiding his constituents. He is not man enough to have a Town Hall meeting.
Here is a BOE story for you. Dr. Jeff Mulqueen, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, through Doris Kurtz asked the Board to pay towards some courses that he was taking in order that he might become a superintendent someday. Two years ago, the Board voted to give him $8,000. Sanders and Kraczkowsky voted against this expenditure because it was obvious what the future would bring.
Well, the future is here and Mulqueen is leaving his post for Massachusetts, thanks to the generosity of the New Britain taxpayers funding his education.
Good riddance to Kochel and Wolski who pushed it. Shame on those who voted for this waste of our money.

The Herald was OK for awhile but now it has fallen into the same "protect the liberal point of view" as do most of the other liberal oriented media. Will have to think twice before renewing my subscription. Jim Craven was all right for a while too. Too bad, nice guy, edited out of existence.

That's the pot calling the kettle black. Only left-wing extremists think that moderates are the extreme ones. The history of this extreme progressivism goes all the way back to Teddy Roosevelt, who stole millions of acres of land from owners in order to create national parks and forests, and believed government was the answer to everything. His distant cousin, FDR, was even worse. People talk about getting federal money all the time now for projects in a state or district. THIS DIDN'T EXIST before FDR's time. If you wanted to spend money in your state or town, you did it yourself. You didn't ask others across the country to pay for your own spending. The point is that people do not take responsibility for their own actions, and it permeates all levels of government and society in general. FDR also promoted class warfare through redistribution, and had absolutely no clue about business or economics.
