I was surprised when Bart Fischer called me last week.

A HUGE thank you to Senore Parisi, an Italian teacher at New Britain High School. He was Marybeth's teacher for 4 years and learned a lot from him. Kids DO receive a quality education in New Britain, if you want it and you work hard.

Marybeth is currently in Florence being dual language certified. Out of 15 students in her class Marybeth is the only teacher that speaks Italian. When she calls home she only speaks Italian (Maria is bilingual). This leaves me out of the linguistic loop. Oh well.

After this three week course Marybeth will be placed in a school somewhere in Italy for the school year. She hopes to return to America to teach but LOVES Italy, its customs, its architecture, and its culture.

Ciao!

Congratulations to former Mayor William MacNamara and Alderman Mark Bernacki and their wives. Your children's accomplisments must make you all proud...thanks for being great role models to other parents...Hopefully, the young students of today will be inspired by your children's example.

the Herald should do stories like this every week, highlights the accomplishments of New Britain's youth. It would help clear up many misconceptions by citizens of surrounding towns that many good people come from New Britain, it isn't all the crap you read about in the paper or see in the news. This would be a great idea and hopefully inspire many.
