It is difficult to believe the mayor can ever make any progress when everything he attempts to accomplish is met by nothing but resistance by the council, whose only collective agenda for the past 2 years has apparently been to stop anything that can make the mayor look good and the public be damned.

What other reason could an extremist like Sherwood have for his insults of the developer of Pinnacle Heights, if not an effort to drive away his $5 million investment in the city?

Arch St. was reconstructed by Manafort Construction Co. under Lucien Pawlak's administration approximately 10 years ago.The cost was about $ 7, 000,000 and the final product was like a roller coaster. So, here it is 10 years later or $700,000/year and its a mess. Many vacant stores, Social Security moved out, Salvation Army store gone, Weiner's Auto store gone. and now housing for the homeless. Where do we go from here ?

Yes, the reconstruction of Arch Street was a long project that ruined many family businesses including a retail paint store, rug company, vacuum and TV repair shops, antiques, all gone. Money on the project was spent "liberally"! Where did throwing money at the project get us? No where.

Mayor Stewart should be applauded for his effort to end homelessness in the city. The new family shelter answers a need in our community. Unfortunately, new businesses are not beating down our
doors to take the space on Arch Street.
