NEW BRITAIN PROPERTY TAX RELIEF...

...Individual New Britain homeowners 65 or older in 2010 or who received Social Security disability benefits are eligible for a discount on their property taxes if their total income was less than $30,500 for single applicants or $37,300 for married couples.

The NB Senior Center GOLDEN NOTES March 2010 issue will be listing appointment schedules for seniors applying for HOMEOWNERS Property Tax Relief utilizing Grand List Owner Application Form M-35H Rev. 10/03 along with 2009 Social Security Benefit Statement Form SSA-1099.

One of the hot topics of the candidates debate last night was O'Brien's proposal increasing the Senior's income level since some Seniors might be torpedo by President’s Obama’s second round $250 stimulus payments to Seniors with said $250 payments listed as income on Senior's application for tax credits raising their income $37,300 for married couples over the limit set by state of CT Homeowner Program.

I am truly surprised that none of the questions posed by the League of Women Voters had to do with the Unethical behavior and outright lies Mr. O'Brien has perpetrated thus far. Or the unethical behavior in council ignoring the cities CHARTER.

Any one that votes for this type person is just as corrupt and unethical as they are.

Stewart vs. O'Brien Debate...

After viewing Connecticut General Statute 7-148ff (Special Assessment on Blighted Housing)
that was posted on the Frank Smith Blog and subject of the debate at City Hall 10/20/09 Tuesday night on blight properties in New Britain, we agree with Mayor Stewart’s position that Statute 7-148ff is not a revenue generator of money for City of New Britain's General Fund, but is structured to cover the costs of the police and fire and health code enforcement efforts on those target City blighted properties - and that all revenue acquired must be kept in a special account - plus Rep. O’Brien is also off-base on his verbal political statements regarding his interpretation of state Statute 7-148ff that he (O'Brien) will be able to extend property tax relief to all NB tax paying homeowners on his blight pie-in-sky political agenda.

Even without any difficult questions being asked O'Brien about his constant lies, Tim Stewart won this debate hands down, unless you were sleeping throughout the debate!

When two ultra liberal organizations sponsor a debate, do you really expect "fair and Balanced"?
This time the tables were a bit different it wasn't GOP against Dems. It was a multiparty slate against the Dems. Guess who prevailed?

While the issue of blight is an important one, let's not forget the attractive neighborhoods where property owners take pride in making New Britain a great place to live. Also, don't forget the demise of Pinnacle Heights, one of the blighted areas in the middle of an otherwise area of well kept homes. With the continued leadership of Mayor Stewart, the Pinnacle Heights property will attract businesses, providing well-needed jobs for New Britain. Hopefully, the Nov. 3 election will elect a council that will be more co-operative to Mayor Stewart's ideas to making New Britain a great place to work and live.
