Best wishes to you Julie for a successful campaign in Ward 2.
Your contributions to this community have been many and we look forward to having you on the council.
On another subject, I just received a message in the mail from Tmothy O'Brien that my taxes under Tim Stewart went up a total of $144 from 2006 to 2009. Am I supposed to be outraged? Am I supposed to throw Stewart to the winds and embrace O'Brien?
If my caculations are correct, that is an annual increase of a whopping $48!
Thank you Tim Stewart for keeping my taxes down. You, along with Lou and Mark have done an incredible job inspite of the left wing loons trying to discredit you.
All of the consevative Democrats whom I know are voting for you. The liberals are a lost cause. Let us hope that the moderate Democrats and Independents come to their senses and give you a Common Council who are willing to be supportive and work with you to keep New Britain on the right path.
I am impressed at how you have made people really pay attention to this election, like no time I can remember before. At least they will have a chance to make an informed decision!
Marilyn, it's even better than that. They only went back to 2006, but if they went back to 2003, when Mayor Stewart first took office, they'd have had pretty much the same numbers. So that's an increase of $144 in 6 years, or $24 per year, all due to state mandated revaluation. And most of that comes from the BOE side, for which New Britain residents are now paying a higher share than when Tim O'Brien took office. Oh, btw, your auto taxes also decreased when the mill rate dropped from 46 to 35. Therefore, your tax increase is even smaller!
Frank Smith isn’t a pawn for John McNamara. Matter of fact, I would categorize him as one of John McNamara’s greatest opponents.
but isn't Frank one of McNamara's Democrats???

That is a good point, that car taxes went down, especially since we already know how many Democratic officials don't seem to pay their car taxes, at least on time anyway.
Julie, with all the good you are involved with in the community, you should win by a landslide!! Keep up the good work, and keep smiling :)
Julie is just the kind of candidate we need. I have never heard a bad word about her. I wish I could say that about most of our current elected officials.
From everything I hear, Julie is a kind hearted person who really cares about her fellow man.
