New Mayor Pro Tempore

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

The New Council's Mayor pro Tempore was selected by the Democrats subsequent to Alderman Louis Salvio's attempt to name Alderman Mark Bernaki to that post in order to have open communications with the Mayor's administration. The democrats selected Alderman Michael Trueworthy coupled with the naming of Alderman Phil Sherwood has their choice to be the Majority leader.
Act one was a complete fiasco of show boating by the democrats and it was very apparent from the facial expression of their newcomer's face that he apparently was signifying what did I get myself into? Yes, Alderman Carlozzi you were not partaking with the showboat display during this act one of our new council meetings and hopefully you will stick to the needs of the residents and taxpayers at all your future council attendances and not that of your" arrogant radical democratic leadership" that will continue with their partisan bickering stalemates as in the past. Offer no solutions, but their political obstructionist posture, as they have for the past six years.

Hopefully, Mr.Carlozzi will act on his own conscience on upcoming issues and not "follow the crowd". However, he would do so at the risk of getting on John MacNamera's "Wall of Shame". What a shame:The Dem's could use some forthright people, rather than the kindergarteners that are there now.

He doesn't just sit there as if he is brain dead?

How did he get onto McNamara's ticket?

Could it be that John MacNamara and his subjects think they'll be able to influence Carlo Carlozzi along their obstructionist ways of doing things? I hope not! Hopefully, Lou Salvio and Mark Bernacki will take him under their wing.

To Mr. Carlozzi: Please, stick to your principles, and don't get caught up in the radical thinking of some of your Democratic colleagues. Contrary to what they may believe, they do NOT have the best interests of the public at heart.

most of them are little more than a bunch of "MUPPETS"

Carlo, I'm sorry I doubted you. I am sure YOU will be a voice of reason. I should have known better.

I know you will not be bullied.

Did Mr. Carlozzi vote yes/no to re-appoint Mr. Candelori as Director Chairman of the Mattabassett District or did he agree to table the issue?

THE VOTE TO REAPPOINT THE 3 MDC COMMISSIONERS WAS 11(Ds) TO 3 (Rs). Council members are not akkowed to abstain from a vote.

It’s time for a charter change. Whether it’s the Republicans or the Democrats holding the mayor’s office, a loyal second needs to be ready.

Perhaps Mr. Smith needs to go further and suggest that the charter also be revised to prevent convicted felons from being appointed to city boards and commissions where they can have huge power over the disbursement of millions of taxpayer dollars?

First, I believe they meant, "allowed." Second. Don't judge Carlozzi by the look on his face, watch what he does in the future.

Congressman Chris Murphy spoke to seniors today in Meriden. IN addition to touting the endorssement of the AARP (which has already been exposed as a self serving measure to force more seniors to buy their medigap insurance after the federal government outlaws the Advantage plans most seniors currently enjoy) Congressmen Murphy went on to promise Obama care will offer seniors what he called "immediate" relief. Perhaps Mr. Murphy should actually take the time to read the bill! The bill does not take effect until 2014, long after Obama anticipates he will be re-elected, because even he knows that no one would vote for him once they find out just how devastating his health care plan will be to this county and the health care of all Americans.
So much for it being a dire emergency requiring us to act now. If it is such an emergency, why don't the changes take effect until after the next election, and if Obama care is so wonderful, why do Congress and the President continue to exempt themselves and their families from the plight they plan to ram down our throats?

Congressman Murphy certainly spends a lot of time in Meriden! When does he plan on speaking at the Senior Center in New Britain? When she was Congresswoman, Nancy Johnson visited the New Britain Senior Center often, informing the seniors of what was going on in Washington on their behalf.

Congressman Murphy spends a lot of time in other towns; when will he appear in New Britain? When she was Congresswoman, Nancy Johnson appeared at the New Britain Senior Center often, informing the Seniors what was going on in Washington to benefit the Seniors.

The Mayor Pro-tem should be of the same Political Party as the Mayor. The President of the United States has a Vice-President of the same party. What makes the Common Council of the city of New Britain any better? Mark Bernacki would have been the best choice, he's held that position several times in the past.
