What I don't understand is that this position doesn't pay anything, and after all this public embarrassment and humiliation, why does he keep pushing forward in an attempt to get reappointed?
What benefit to him could there be for a job that doesn't pay a dime?
For the First Selectman of Cromwell to say he never heard of Candelori and his history, maybe the Middletown Press should pay more attention and actually report on what is going on?
I don't blame the selectman for being upset that his representatives on the board would do such a thing as issue a statement endorsing the appointment of a felon.
$100 million is a lot of money to be taking chances with, isn't it?
DOES TODAY'S ARTICLE OFFER LARRY HERMANOWSKI ENOUGH INFORMATION TO REJECT THIS APPOINTMENT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CITY AND THE PUBLIC, OR WILL HE CONTINUE TO DO WHATEVER HE IS TOLD TO DO BY SHERWOOD, LIKE PHIL'S OBEDIENT LITTLE PUPPET--WITH NO MIND OF HIS OWN?
MAYBE IT IS TIME HERMANOWSKI STARTED TO CARE!
AMAZING THAT AN ALDERMAN COULD SAY SOMETHING LIKE "I DON'T CARE"!
DIDN'T THE PEOPLE ELECT YOU TO CARE?
Alderman Larry Hermanowski said he argeed with Sherwood and did not consider the Colonial Realty fraud in which Connecticut residents lost $350 million to be relevant.
Hermanowski also dismissed Candelori being named in another multi-million dollar fraud case.
“Until somebody can show me he’s directly involved in negotiations, I don’t care,” he said.
Yes; Alderman Hermanowski and his Majority Leader Alderman Phil Sherwodd should be ashamed of themselves for their public statements regarding the Candelori Re-Appontmnt to the Mattabassett District.
WHAT POOR LEADERSHIP THEY HAVE TURNED OUT TO BE FOR OUR COMMUNITY AND OUR CITY COUNCIL.
Just wondering, did the Herald reporter follow up with Mr. Manafort and Mr. Tomasso, by getting a comment on how they feel about being likened to Candelori by their Majority Leader?
I'm sure the public would love to hear what they have to say on the subject.
In my opinion it does raise serious questions about Sherwoods motives behind appointing a felon to such a sensitive position, especially when you consider the company granted the $100 mil contract has ties to his home state?
Could there be some connection there?
Or is there some other reason he is so driven to turn over taxpayer money to a man who was involved in one of the biggest frauds in CT history?
And why does he paint Tomasso and Manafort with the same brush as Candelori???
Is that how desperate he is to ram through the appointment of his crony?
What's next Sherwood? Are we going to hire sex offenders to teach our children, or maybe rapist as counselors at the woman's shelter. YOU ARE OUT OF CONTROL! I can't wait till the connection is made between you and New Hampshire or what ever the hell you are trying to pull off. The eye's are on YOU!

It certainly would appear to an outsider that Sherwood must be getting some benefit from this, otherwise why would he possibly go to such lengths to force through the appointment of a felon?
I guess Hermanowski doesn't see enough cause to reject a player in the Colonial Realty fraud scheme from handling $100 million of our money.
The mayor's of New Britain, Newington, Deputy Mayor of Berlin, and First Selectman of Cromwell must all be wrong, and Hermanowski is the only one that is right.
Our founding fathers of our nation and state were wise enough to understand that if someone was capable of committing a crime such as a felony, there was a serious flaw in that person's character. They also understood that a person like that could not be trusted in a position of leadership, since a serious character flaw would be injurious to the government body that person represented. For most of our history, CHARACTER was considered to be the most important ingredient for a candidate. After FDR, the standard became "What can I expect in return if I support you?" In other words, PATRONAGE is now the key standard.
With that being said, Candelori in no way, shape, or form should be serving, as his character is obviously flawed to be capable of committing a crime that hurt so many people. This was not a crime of passion, but one that took thought and planning, and plenty of time for Candelori to see the error of his ways and back out. Did he? NO. So we know what we can expect from him. If you care about this issue, SHOW UP at the Council meeting next week, and bring EVERYONE YOU KNOW. Friends, neighbors, spouses, family. PACK the Council Chambers and everyone sign up to speak against this. I know Sherwood won't care, but perhaps we can show some of the other Council members that it is time to stand up for the city, and not for Sherwood. This could also influence the same Councilors to line up their votes on the side of the people in other issues as well. Until the people of this city show up in large numbers to protest the doings of this Council, Sherwood will run the show, and not the people of NB.

Sounds like the leaders of Cromwell and Berlin are not happy with the prospect of a felon controlling their town's money!
