A supporter of the rail system from Waterbury through Bristol, New Britain and onto Hartford citing " he looks at issues from a regional perspective and what is best for all the communities in his district" as reported in today's Herald.
Frankly, His district does not include Waterbury or Bristol. Was a deal made for his support of the rail system vs. the busway? I hope not! As I have stated that the busway will put people to work this coming Spring and the Rail System which approximates one billion dollars in cost will possible never materialize due to a lack of funding some fifteen years from now.
As a former Mayor of New Britain he should be supporting what is an immediate benefit to the city of New Britain and its residents and that is the busway project.

Apparently New Britain's own Senator DeFronzo does not share in New Britain's "good news about the financial help to be coming for the Busway project. DeFronzo would rather line up with the Nicastro brothers and Don Padlo of Bristol in torpedoing the Busway. And what does DeFronzo say about it?; he hasn't seen any proof yet that people will ride buses; wake up Don, if you spent more time in New Britain - especially downtown - and less in Bristol, you might see how many people ride buses from the bus stops downtown.
DeFronzo uses his same old excuse for wanting to do what's best for the "region" but doesn't seem to remember that New Britain is part of the region. If the truth be known, DeFronzo is simply anti Stewart. New Britain needs a "Scott Brown" type of infusion into its state legislative contingent. My vote is for Mark Bernacki.

Sounds accurate to me! DeFronzo did nothing for the business community in NB in his 4 yrs. as Mayor. Both he and his questionable legislative aide, Lopes, can't stand having Stewart succeed in doing something at which DeFronzo failed.
Don DeFronzo used to be a well liked Mayor back in the day. Boy is he a let down. Fell to the low road on everything just like most politicians he let his scruples fall to the wayside for personal and political gain. It's too bad but rather than complain and lament let's just hope we can say goodbye to him next go round.
To your comments, DeFronzo was not a well like mayor. Again and again the folks in City Hall told me that they did not like his style or lack of same.

Mark Bernacki would be excellent. Remember that he lost to the son of Tony Tercyak, riding Tony's coattails when he ran for state rep. Most of us do not think that he even lives with Mommie in our district.
Once again, if we had a strong Republican leadership and not the same old political hacks, we could pull a Scott Brown here in New Britain.
Let's roll.
Hopefully DeFronzo will be swept out in a Scott Brown type of victory!
Governor Rell called today for no tax increases, and to cut spending through reducing the size of state government. The Governor wasn't even out of the room yet, when Democrats were already on the air waves pushing their socialism by talking about massive tax increases they want to pass on the so-called rich, the rich people Democrats seem to love hating for having the nerve to have more wealth than others. Democrats just seemed more determined than ever to punish those evil rich people.
Maybe Connecticut could learn a lesson from the Marxist Democrats in Maryland, who 3 years ago passed a huge tax on millionaires.
Maryland has seen their tax revenues decrease drastically at the higher tax rates because 1/3 of their millionaires simply moved out of state to flee the repressive taxes of the socialists in power.
It is called voting with your feet, and if you think people are fleeing Connecticut now, raise income taxes and watch!
Why else would he side with Bristol? Special interest, unions? We must look into his connections and figure out who is lining his pockets. It's the only feasible explanation. He can't really hate Stewart bad enough to put off creating jobs. Unless he's putting a lot of money in his pocket.

They were quick to announce in May of last year:
The New Britain Division of Connecticut Transit will also receive 20 new buses in the first year of stimulus funding, which constitutes a completely new fleet for the New Britain/Bristol bus line, which services New Britain, Berlin, Plainville, Bristol and Newington.
However due to the poor leadership and legislative skills of our State and Federal legislators New Britain again seems to be "left Out".

What happened???
Isn't that the problem with Washington, and basically the Democrats in general? They are totally ignoring their constituents and pushing their liberal agenda even if the majority of Americans are opposed to their agenda.
The Republicans should encourage Mark Bernacki to run against DeFronzo for State Senator. He knows what is best for New Britain. Mayor Stewart would be excellent also, but if he were elected, Trueworthy would then be Mayor....who needs that???
Mark Bernacki would offer us something we don't get from DeFronzo--a Senator who knows what it is like to run a business, and have to meet a payroll. DeFronzo has made a career of surviving off the taxpayers, while all the time Mr. Bernacki was paying taxes and employing people at his downtown New Britain business. The choice seems clear to me. Mark Bernacki is someone who understands that small business is the key to our future and he knows what problems small business owners are faced with. DeFronzo seems to know little more than how to endorse the back of a government paycheck.
