Frank: I posted this comment on the Herald's web site this morning.

"I'm taking the Herald's bait writing this response. Jim Craven's "BLATHER" - will explain that later - piece about the NB Council Majority Leader this morning spoiled my morning coffee. I feel bad for Jim. He has a boss, evidently , a boss who tells him to write a puff piece like the one in this morning's Herald. Too bad for Jim that jobs are scarce.

Executive Editor of The Herald, James Smith, in Sunday's Herald, referred to anonymous comments placed by folks, on line as "blather", as part of an editorial on printing public notices in the paper or having them available on-line. I'll write about that some other time.
When Jim Craven asked me if I would comment on on Democrat Phil Sherwood. I was astonished! I said a number of things to him such as, "there are 14 other people on the Council, why ask me", and "I don't want to play that game", "I'm at odds with him on almost every issue."
Adam Platosz probably had the most telling comment, to wit, "he's the only one that wanted the job."
Now, I ask you Mr. Smith, of all of the hundreds of thousands of people that have lived in New Britain ALL of their lives, why profile Sherwood?

At this point I say, it's nice that Bart Fisher sometimes profiles genuine and noteworthy citizens of New Britain. Phil Sherwood, in my estimation has not achieved that status."

When is it time to ask pertinent questions?
The crazy part of this article is that it omits what drives politicians like alderman Sherwood. The title should have been "New Britain
A steppingstone to a political career". Lets face it like O'Brien and Defronzo before him Phil's only goal in town is to pad his activist resume.

Look back at Mr Sherwood's history on the council. With disregard to the effects that his actions might have on the average citizen he has pushed through repetitious ordinances that have done nothing more than increased red tape and discontent.

From the now infamous foot on the fifty gallon drum to the fiasco at the police department with free reports Phil has continuesly set himself up as some sort of martyr for those of us who he feels are just plain to stupid to understand.

People like Mr Sherwood are no better than those who hold national office and are pressing ahead with the healthcare reforms as introduced by the extremest left even though they have been repudiated by the majority of Americans through run off elections and nearly every major poll.

When will run of the mill Democrats wake up to this insanity and purge their party of these socialist extremists?

Why don't you wise up? I stopped getting The Herald many years ago. I remember when it was a good newspaper and I knew all of the professionals who ran the paper.

If we all stop subscribing,it will go away. Another source of information will take its place.

I believe this story is merely the Herald's way to repay Sherwood for pushing an ordinance that will guarantee 1,000's of dollars in revenue for the Herald at taxpayer expense. How different is this from the Louisiana Purchase, or the Cornhusker Kickback?

What an ad nauseam Kumbaya laced article about Phil Sherwood. Does Mr. Craven realize how foolish he appears from writing such an article about a political hack? If Mr. Craven was sincere in his writings, then he would have done an article about Ellen Simpson and her work at The Friendship Center or Mary Sanders and her good works at The Spanish Speaking Center. I stopped getting The Herald. If it wasn't for Frank's post, I wouldn't have know about James Craven's idiotic article.
