New Britain's Mayor Accepts CPOA'S Award

The Honorable Mayor Timothy T. Stewart receives the NB-COPA's INAUGRAL TAXPAYER APPRECIATION AWARD FROM COPA'S PRESIDENT, MS. ANN MIKULAK.

A well deserved award for the Mayor's ability to keep the Taxes low for our city's tax payers throughout the years he has been in office. While other Conn. Urban cities similar sized to New Britain had to raise their taxes year after year.

New Britain delegation should have received awards as well. The biggest difference between New Britain and other cities in the state is the % increases of state aid over other cities that New Britain got.

It's ok to hate the delegation in Hartford but other cities are bitter that so much bacon has been brought back to New Britain.

The mayor also has done a good job walking the tight rope selling property after property so generate money for the taxpayers.

This award is well deserving considering that Mayor Stewart has kept the taxes low, while other Connecticut cities of similar size are on the verge of bankruptcy.

Anonymous said that the New Britain delegation to the state legislature is more deserving of an award. What did they do to deserve an award? Ramming through huge socialist programs and driving our state into bankruptcy with their tax and spend mentality is not something that we as taxpayers would support and certainly would not recognize them for their actions. If these legislators want recognition, let them start working to reduce the bloat in state government, and as a result will be able to work for the reduction of our taxes. Until then, they can expect no rewards from taxpayers.

THEN WHY IS THERE NO OTHER CITY WITH A WORST BOND RATING THEN NEW BRITAIN?

U guys are pathetic. You keep saying we're in great shape and so eventually you actually believe it!

Truth hurts. New Britain is hurting like every other city.

Frank: Nice photos, and nice article...you should start your own local tabloid...It was a nicely attended meeting with a whole new Board of Directors and new officers.

Congratulations to Mike Wanik (President)
Mark Fortin (Vice-President)
Janet Candelori (Treasurer)
Jean Biernacki (Secretary)

Ann Mikulak did a wonderful job over 18 years to keep the organization going.

You Idiot! A solid "A" rating is not good enough for you?

...Then why is New Britain not laying off cops, firefighters and other city employees like many other cities?

Why is New Britain not passing massive tax increases, like most other cities in Connecticut?

Why is the average annual taxes for a house in Hartford where Democrats rule at least 3 times what it is here in New Britain? (average house taxes in Hartford are around $15,000 a year).

Apparently New Britain, under Mayor Stewart's leadership, has avoided all these problems, but we are the crazy ones?

You must be one of those Democrats who can do nothing but attack the mayor no matter how much good he accomplishes.

The people spoke in November, and they rejected your radical socialist candidate for mayor.

Get over it!

The only money that comes to New Britain from the state delegation are allocations that we receive in proportion to our size, or the number of students in our school system. Contrary to what the first poster said, our legislators do not bring home any "extra" bacon than we would get even if Micky Mouse and Donald Duck (no relation to Donald DeFronzo) were our legislators. You can look that up if you want on OPM's website.

Other cities laugh at us in Hartford becaue we constantly get left out of programs that Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport and Stamford get that we could benefit from because our legislators are too busy filing bills to mandate the right to air dry your laundry on a clothesline and other such liberal tripe.

And why would a taxpayer group give Tercyak or O'Brien awards? They are always trying to raise taxes. Whether its local or state taxes, its still coming out of our pockets. DUH

If anyone is jealous, its Tim O'Brien who could not hope in his wildest dreams to run the City as well as Tim Stewart (if the voters are ever foolish enough to give him the chance)

Frank - I think you have some sneak posters in here from liberal Kool Aid drinkers. I wish they would contain their falseholds and spin to McNamara the lesser's blog. Those of us who tune in here want the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Donald Duck (no relation to Donald DeFronzo)

May not be any relation, but the first would be a better Senator than the latter!
