Nothing new with this debate. Oppose goverment run health insurance. Ok. But admittedly Linda McMahon reports when speaking to residents and small business owners across CT, health care reform is top of mind. All three of them, let citizens purchase their own health insurance across state lines just like homeowners and auto insurance?
OK. I would do that maybe the readers here at the blog would be responsible enough to follow through and purchase health insurance. The one question none of them answered was what to do about the 47 million un-insured in this country, 50,000 in CT. Does anybody really think that opening up competitive, across state lines, health insurance is going to make any difference for the un-employed or under-employed or those living below the economic poverty line? Nobody even brings that up! Should you and I leave the poor to their own devices to get health insurance coverage. We do that here in NB with car insurance and guess what, our car insurance rates are sky high because we drive around with un-insured motorists on our streets. We will continue and expand sharing un-insured patients at our city hospital too.

The health insurance bill crammed into Washington was/is a poorly written bill and it's a shame that finally getting a reform bill up for consideration was as good as toilet paper. However, it has people talking and considering and hoping that every American citizen will have coverage and be able to have necessary tests, necessary treatments, medications. Those of us who are responsible enough to work to have a better, expanded health insurance will/can purchase supplemental private insurance.

Schiff was correct when he stated that health insurance should never have been tied to one's employment and employer. Now how does he propose to change that.
