snopes.com: Muslims Appointed to Department of Homeland Security?

This should be no different than if the President appointed devout Catholics or devout Protestants to the Department of Homeland Security. While it is easy to stereotype every devout Muslim as a terrorist this accomplishes nothing except to support the accusations made by the Muslim community that many Americans are bigoted.

The appointees have a strong record of service. One is the son of immigrants who has served as a Federal Prosecutor for over seven years. The other was a knowledgeable legal scholar who was appointed to an advisory position.

Instead of focusing on xenophobic attacks I hope that politicians and political groups will stick to real issues. There are plenty of things being done by the Obama administration and the Democrats in Washington that are terrible. We don't need to invent sensational stories, we have plenty to campaign on using the truth alone.

The difference is they are being appointed by an America hating Muslim President!

Doesn't make a difference if they have quality credentials and execute the duties of their office admirably. I'm sure President Obama's decision was politically motivated in an attempt to appease certain people. But what really matters is whether or not they do their jobs well.

I refuse to believe that just because they are Muslim, devout or otherwise, that they will be unable to do their job. If you have evidence that they won't uphold their duties then that is another matter, but the fact that they were appointed isn't a scandal.

Well written, Nick! It's about time someone pointed out that we should be concentrating on the many important issues facing this country, not name-calling and stereotyping. Flame-throwing anonymous comments do nothing but stir up the uninformed.

I can only assume that the Radical Czars, that are known to be socialistic and supporters of the Islamic Muslims', are not in control of the administration's appointments before they are vetted!

Apparently everyone gets testy when you point out that this country is in big trouble with a socialist leader trying to transform us in a European socialist country just like Greece.

I guess the truth hurts.
