The special bonding funding of Police Station of nearly $10 Million dollars that was approved by the Connecticut Development Authority (CDA), is part of the federal Recovery Zone Economic Development Bond program.

The funding almost did not happen after a contentious debate at the last NB Common Council meeting threatened to derail the application for the bonding.

Alderman Larry Hermanowski had asked that a resolution for the application be sent to the Committee for Administration, Finance and Law for review first. Although Mayor Stewart and others argued the action would delay the application, Hermanowski would not relent and his motion was seconded by Mayor Pro Tempore Trueworthy.

Alderman Hermanowski then back tracked and took back his amendment after a Democratic caucus clarify the bonding requirements. Police Chief Gagliardi was pleased that the Police Station bonding was finally passed.

NB Mayor Timothy Stewart stated in Saturday edition of The Hartford Courant 8/21/10 that Governor M. Jodi Rell's announcement on Friday of CT state financing bonding aid - will save the NB taxpayers more than $8 million in interest payments over the life of the 20-year bonds for the new Police Station to be constructed in November in downtown New Britain for about $48 million dollars.

Once again Governor Rell comes through when our Democratic legislators have totally failed us!

Way to go Alderman Larry Hermanowski with your contentious debate on Bonding program. Also, your comments Alderman Trueworthy were also stupid. You two bozos almost blew it for the city of New Britain again with your stupid political comments on the Federal Recovery Zone Economic Development Bond Program.

The entire Democratic side of the New Britain Common Council is sinking in quick sand under its current lack of leadership.

New Britain Chairman DTC John McNamara's letter to The Herald was posted on Saturday, August 21, 2010 and again on Sunday, August, August 22, 2010 - "Is Police Station Plan The Best Choice?"

When you read John McNamara's letter you will really see why there is NOW Democratic opposition to the Police Station on Main Street in downtown New Britain

With Years in the planning stage and now the voices of those like "John & others" are surfacing with the coming of the November 2010 elections.

Typical socialist rantings fron the extreme left wing of the New Britain Democrat/Socialist/WFP/ACORN Party.
