John McNamara’s recent letter to the editor that appeared in the New Britain Herald on 8-20-10 as his venting of his frustrations towards the Stewart Administration over the selected location for the new police station at Main and Chestnut Streets is nothing more than more Democratic obstructionism to once again prevent the mayor from accomplishing anything positive for the city--in pursuit of some twisted political expedience for McNamara and his band of merry men.
Bewilderment was expressed by everyone I spoke to who had read his most recent diatribe. I was just as perplexed after watching this party leader attend the many council meetings regarding the location of the new police building while he silently watched his party minions discuss this issue month after month without expressing any objections. His majority party on the council approved this location, and now it is somehow the mayor's fault in a similar fashion to the way Obama continues to blame George W. Bush for Obama's own numerous failures.
Now this so-called great party leader has the gall to question the selection after the design engineering is underway with the approval of his so called Democratic minions and considerable taxpayer money has already been spent in furtherance of this project.
The public must speak up to prevent this "Johnny Come Lately" from causing more of your tax dollars to be wasted simply to pursue some ridiculous political agenda. Will the local Democrats ever stop these childish games?

This is not the latest dumb thing that Little Mac or Council Democrats did nor will it be the last. Little Mac is simply fishing as did a couple of other New Britainites, after the fact.
At the most recent Council meeting, Council Democrats -not including Carlozzi & Collins - successfully blocked the purchase of two, special greens mowers for the Golf Course. Stanley Golf Course is funded almost entirely through a Special Revenue Fund supllied by income from the Golf Course (golfers and restaurant users).
What makes this issue more ridiculous is that the Council, in June, approved the city's Special Revenue Funds budget.
This is simply another example of stupidity on the part of those Democrats led by, Sherwood, Trueworthy and Hermanowski. And, adding insult to injury, Alderwomen Black and Magnuszewski who should know better because they are Parks Commission liaisons, both voted against the purchase. Can you say puppets??!
Word has it that Council Democrats will pick one or two issues from each Council meeting agenda to block or argue against. Isn't that the intelligent thing to do?

William McNamara was mayor, which is why this yo-yo is often referred to as "Little Mack the lesser one" to avoid confusion with the very popular 6 term mayor who was often called "Big Mack."
The democrats simply do not want to see the Police Station come to reality during Mayor Stewart's term in office and they are banking on Tim O'Brien getting elected next time so the stall. As for the mowers for the golf course, that was blocked because Mayor Stewart golfs and pretty soon when they materialize a win of the mayor's office for Tim O'Brien there will be no need for the golf course any longer. LOL
The golf course will be converted into camp Total Rec! and all programs will be FREE. Cut the grass with any old mower that still runs. Cantanzaro will mow the lawn.

What has O'Brien accomplished for the state that would make anyone think he is prepared to be mayor?
All he has ever done in the legislature is join with other left wing extremists to vote for more ways to spend our money on social programs and more ways to raise taxes.
Some of the measures O'Brien is on record voting for was the Democrat's failed attempt to pass a 35% income tax on all business income, and let's not forget his vote for huge increases in all the license and registration fees charged by the Motor Vehicle Department. He also voted in favor of the state paying for free health care not only for the contractors doing business with the state, but all their families too. This would be like making you pay for the health insurance for the plumber you hired to work on your house, and for his family too--but to these radicals, it is apparently free money--since it is yours and mine that they are spending.
You can thank Governor Rell for vetoing these 2 massive taxing measures, but if O'Brien got his way, you would all be paying through the nose.
Just imagine where we are all headed if we no longer have someone like Jodi Rell in the Governor's office to constantly fight back these liberals and their tax increases?

If he gets elected to a "serious" position I would think it would be better to stop working so hard. We could just lay back and do as well as the next guy who works hard, but then, maybe we would all stop working hard? Then what?

Just because a few nutcases have hijacked the party, don't condemn all Democrats. Many Democrats are just as angry with the radicals in charge, and that is why you are seeing more and more former Democrats. Even on the national level, membership is declining for the Democratic party while it is increasing for the Republicans and Libertarians. The largest increase by far is the number of independent or unaffiliated voters that are registering to vote. The common denominator seems to be the anti-Democratic sentiment due to the radicals that now represent that party.
It is amazing that the mayor can accomplish anything the way these Democrats constantly try to destroy all of his efforts simply to prevent him from getting credit for anything.
Now that the public is paying attention, we can hopefully get rid of these obstructionists at the ballot box.
So if the democrats are finally waking up.... why do our democrats still get elected in large numbers here in New Britain?
One reason is, this area is a feeding ground for the likes of Sherwood and O'Brien. We have a large population of immigrants. Immigrants believe voting democratic and living in a democracy are synonymous. To vote any other way would go against all that they live for, the right to FREEDOM here in America. This is why when I was working the polls for Tim Stewart, Mike Trueworthy approached the voters and said nothing more than "Remember to vote Democratic" and the heads nod
in agreement. They came here to live in a democracy and that equates to voting democratic they need know nothing else. Attempting to inform such a voter is offensive to this person. To tell someone who is so grateful to simply be able to vote democratic that his/her vote is wrong, is like telling the person the devil is better than God.
Our group of socialist/communist democrats understand and know this to be true. That's why we have so many carpetbagger politicians in the city of New Britain. We are a prime spot to set up shop and make a living.
It finally looks like the voters in NB are realizing it's time to vote rhe Democrats off the council, except perhaps Carlozzi. Listen to the Republican candidates, hear what they have to say...all 4 reps should be replaced, as well as the current State Senator, Donald DiFronzo.

Anyone who is spreading hate like this about regular Americans who joined together to remember a great Republican like Rev. Martin Luther King Jr, and is accusing them of spreading "white fright" is the racist, not the people who joined together to remember a great Republican like MLK, Jr.
I was a Democrat since my 18th birthday, but due to the likes of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Sherwood, Trueworthy, O'Brien, Tercyak, Defronzo, McNamara and their socialist ways, I became a Republican as a way to reject what people like this are doing to our country, our state, and our city.
After a lifetime of being a Democrat, and a union member too, I doubt I will ever vote for a Democrat again as long as I live.
With radical name calling like this report about the calling of white people who were celebrating MLK's speech as the spreading of "white fright," you are witnessing first hand acts of extreme desperation from a bunch of radicals who realize that Democrats are finished in November. Many political pundits (from both sides of the aisle) who have been around for decades, are saying that they have never witnessed a wave like the one that is currently building to reject these radical Democrats and their central planning nanny state mentality.
Democrats are proving by their actions, over and over, that they are the party of tyranny while the Republican Party is the party of freedom--which is an excellent reason for Glenn Beck to have chosen the anniversary of the famous speech by such a great Republican as Dr. King, as a way for patriotic Americans to join together in celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through a day of prayer and reflection.
I am lost by the twisted logic behind a statement that white people celebrating the life of Dr. King somehow is spreading "white fright," however, this statement just further demonstrates how Republicans teach a message of tolerance, while the Democratic message appears to be one of intolerance, hatred, and racism.
Perhaps these smug elitist Democrats should have paid attention to the actual words in Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech?

In the third paragrah of your recent comment on Smith's blog, you mentioned "tolerance." You should read what Burris had to say about tolerance in the 8/27 Herald. The man is adamant that anyone who doesn't think as he does fails as an American and cannot think clearly. Today, he takes off on Linda McMahon and labels her as a bully. So much for tolerance from the press. Also, talk about tolerance, read Frank Harris' column in today's Courant.
"Anonymous" makes some valid points. To Democrats "tolerance" means you either fall in lock step to our liberal ideology or they will viciously attack you for not being a brain dead clone of theirs.
