Lt. Governor Michael Fedele--making his bid for Governor!

Mike Fedele

Mark Boughton

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

Born in Italy and as a child, emigrating to Connecticut with his parents, Mike grew up in Stamford, Connecticut. He is certainly a classic example of foreign immigration making good with his being the founder and Chairman of Stamford based Pinnacle Group, a company that delivers information technology solutions and services throughout the USA. Amazingly, it is alleged that he never purchased an ad for the process of expanding his company to a national status. Mike was elected for two terms on Stamford’s Board of Representatives and elected to the Connecticut General Assembly for a period of nine years before he became the Lt. Governor.

His running mate as candidate for Lt. Governor is Danbury’s Mayor Mark Boughton, who is serving his fifth term in office. Boughton is a CCSU graduate with a degree in history and a masters degree from Western Conn. State University. He also served as a State Representative for a period of three years and in the past was a high school teacher in Danbury-- teaching social studies.

His most famous action that drew national publicity was his working with the Danbury Police and federal authorities in a joint effort to roundup illegal aliens from the city--helping to establish a very low crime rate for his city.

Mayor Boughton makes a good compatible running mate for Lt. Governor Fedele.

Everywhere Fedele campaigns he seems to have his running mate, Mark Boughton, front and center. When he isn't totally bashing Foley he is busy wearing Mark Boughton on his sleeve. I think Mark Boughton should have run for governor. Mark Boughton would have had a chance.

The fact that Mike Fedele is the only one willing to sign a pledge for no new taxes makes him my candidate. Taxes are high enough in Connecticut.

certainly a better choice than anything the Democrats have to offer!

I am getting tired of watching the fantastic claims that candidate Foley keeps running against Lt. Governor Fedele.

He is constantly running ads whereby he claims that Mike Fedele presided over the largest tax increases in history as Lt. Governor. What troubles me the most about these claims is that candidate Foley doesn't seem to understand the office for which he is seeking. Mike Fedele is not now, nor has he ever been governor, except possibly during a short period as acting governor when Governor Rell was undergoing surgery or away on vacation, so how could he have presided over any tax increases whatsoever?

Our Lieutenant Governor has virtually no authority. His main purpose is to sit on the shelf waiting for the need to serve should the sitting governor become incapacitated, or in the event the governor dies in office or is otherwise unable to continue to serve. In such a case, the Lieutenant Governor would become Governor.

The only other authority the Lt. Governor has is to preside over the Senate as President of the Senate, but he only has a vote in the case of a tie. With such a large Democratic majority, there are no ties, and the Democratic Party controls anything the Senate does. As a result, if the Senate passed huge tax increases that candidate Foley is not happy with, it is the Democrats he should be blaming for it, and not the Lieutenant Governor who has dutifully sat on the sidelines maintaining his readiness to serve should that unfortunate need ever arise. The Lt. Governor has done precisely what the people elected him to do under our Constitution--little more than waiting.

Perhaps candidate Foley should consult Article Fourth of the Connecticut Constitution before creating any more advertisements?
