Regarding the site of the new Police Station. Here's another fiasco perpetrated by Democrats at the 9/11/10 Council meeting; a resolution was presented indicating that the City was interested in designating the Poilce Station site at, 121-131 Main St as a "Recovery Zone." Doing this would allow the City to qualify for additional Federal funds for development. The issue was time sensitive and application for the funds had to be made by the end of this month. Alderman Hermanowski as he his wont to do, motions to amend the resolution to send the proposal to subcommittee, a move which would effectively give the city no chance to qulify for the federal funds. The following comments were appropriate from the Herald's blog on the subject:
" For an issue for which there was no good reason to go to subcommittee an amendment was offered to send it there - "Recovery Zone" issue. This time sensitive issue was stalled, why? To impede the Mayor and attempting to block him from doing something worthwhile for NB taxpayers. NO OTHER REASON! Hermanowski does it all the time."
Another comment: " ... Alderman Hermanowski will not support anything put forth by the mayor because of the hatred he has for Republicans, just ask him. Time to grow up people, your obvious lack of leadership is pretty apparent. "
Frank: Rumor from an excellent source has it that the Democrats will use this same tactic to delay any of the Mayor's initiatives. They will choose one or two items from each Council meeting agenda and question and delay everything for the rest of this term for Stewart. All this because the Mayor didn't call a "leadership" meeting before the Council meeting. After the way that True worthy have treated the Mayor at previous meetings, would you?

I think the commenter above meant, "After the way Trueworthy and Sherwood perpetrated the fiasco about a threat from the Mayor and after they referred to the police as less than honest, would anybody want to have a private meeting with them?"

It should be easy to find bail bondsmen willing to rent offices in the P.D.
