During the Debate with State Senator Sam Caligiuri, Rep. Murphy attempted to blame the Bush Administration onto Sam about 16 times. He kept saying to Sam you are going backwards to the Bush economic policies
Murphy defended his support for the stimulus bill as "a great job creator." but Caligiuri was very quick with his attack by mentioning how Murphy always votes for what Pelosi has laid out for him. Caligiuri continued his attack by bringing up Pelosi's unpopular stimulus bill which mounted enormous national deficit accomplishing very little to the point of causing the highest unemployment in our state's history. Caligiuri continued by promising to reduce taxes, freezing government spending at 20 per cent of the GDP (instead of the current 25 to 30%) and also continuing the bush tax cuts and cutting the corporate tax down to 25%.
Murphy responded to Caligiuri's position on the Bush tax cuts extension " as laughable " claiming that these tax cuts only helped the super rich.
Murphy continually attacked Caligiuri for not telling where to cut the budget. However, Caligiuri did mention cutting a long list of federal agencies identified by the Congressional Budget Office as having outlived their purpose or failing to fulfill their purpose.
Murphy was proud of his support of the Obamcare bill--citing that it didn't go far enough, but Caligiuri said he would repeal the reform bill or cut the funding. Caliguiri said he supports giving tax credits to businesses for their providing insurance for their employees.
In short, Senator Caligiuri is absolutely correct with his proposing that the Feds cut spending while Murphy suggests to increase spending with no regard to his constituents wishes.

Tim O'Brien was working the crowd out on the sidewalk, and then before the debate was going through the hall shoving his baby in front of everybody similar to the way he stood around at the polls with the baby on primary day.
I still have not figured out the logic behind this one? It is as if he is saying: "I have a baby, vote for me?"
Very strange to say the least.
Murphy is showing his desperation at the fact that his campaign is going right down the crapper. I believe that is why his facial expressions during the debate frequently looked like someone whose shorts were too tight, and that is why he is now launching ridiculous and baseless attacks against his opponent.
Unfortunately for Murphy, the public is on to his childish games, and they are fed up with his being nothing but a rubber stamp for Pelosi and Obama.
His vision for the federal government running your entire life from the cradle to the grave is not something the majority of Americans share.

Where has he been to support any initiative in this city? Probably busy running errands for Pelosi.
As for O'Brien and his baby; probably did it to prove that he has testicles. I still feel that someone should report him to DCF.
This issue with Tim O'Brien being front and center with baby in arms is very strange. Ok a few times, we need to care for our children and we can't always secure childcare. But at this point it appears he is trying to gain voters by wearing the baby on his sleeve. At the debate last Tuesday his wife Rhona was with the baby. I think Tim O'Brien is truly trying to touch on every sector of the population, white people, people of color, every race and every religion, every sexual orientation, single parents, various family dynamics, he has us all covered to get the vote.
It would be refreshing if we could just have him out of the political scene. It's getting old now and nauseating.

Although she opted not to run for reelection last year for Plainville's Town Council, Helen Bergenty isn’t done with politics. Months after leaving the council following a 14-year stint, which included two terms as council chairwoman, Bergenty decided to be the Republican candidate in the 22nd District House of Representatives representing sections of Bristol and New Britain and town of Plainville.
They made me liaison to the Plainville Board of Education for the last two years I was on the council, Bergenty said. I asked them about their budgets, but they said they were basically unset because they had so many unfunded mandates. I couldn’t get an answer on why they had so mandates so I’m going to Hartford to find out about these mandates.
In addition to serving as the liaison to the Broad of Education, she also served as the liaison to the Senior Center and has been on the Chamber of Commerce. When she’s not campaigning she’s helping out with her monthly Hometown Connection, a local paper she helped start 15 years ago run entirely by volunteers.
Helen realizes however that serving in the CT legislature would demand far more time than her newspaper hobby of gathering the local news, but she serious about representing the people of three Districts - Section of Bristol, New Britain's Slater Road Area and Plainville as their Representative of 22nd District.

We notice that the Helen Bergenty comment is posted three times. Since the 22nd District represents some three towns: Bristol, New Britain- Slater Road Area and town of Plainville, the three comments seen logical - three towns - three comments?
Since the current Representative of the 22nd District in town of Plainville is incumbent Betty Boukus, the question is: What District is Pinnacle Heights located in and who represents the citizens of that Slater Road Area - Betty Boukos and/or Tim O'Brien?

I wonder what town they plan to send this baby to school in when it is old enough, especially since his step son was sent to an out of town school, while all the time O'Brien was claiming to care so deeply about New Britain schools.

It is such a myth that Democrats are not the rich. They are the "old rich", like richie rich Blumenthal. Born to money. Money that is safely protected from taxes. The Republicans that are wealthy got there by the sweat of their brow. Sue happy Blumenthal, the enemy of commerce, could not answer the simple question on how to create a job. No, Dick, the answer is not tax more and make new government bureaucracies.
