Of course I will back Tim Stewart for any office he seeks. However, selfishly, I want him to stay right where he is; as a matter of fact, Rabbi Henry Okolica asked me to make sure that Tim Stewart remains as Mayor of New Britain, "... we need him right here in New Britain."
I have heard there are plenty of Democrats "that are chomping at the bit" to take Don's place, e.g., Tercyak, O'Brien, Geragosian(?), Salina of Berlin,, Terry Gerratana (remember her?). What is needed is a person other than a tax and spend liberal to take the State Senate seat.
I have heard that Geragosian may also be tapped for a post in the Malloy, "give me a job" administration. That would be John Geragosian. There are Democrats already trying to move into John's District should Malloy tap him for a post. Help me, I'm gagging! Phil Sherwood, give up! The next thing you hear is that Mike or Frank Nicastro might get a job...HELP!
One of the pluses of getting rid of Don D. is that he will probably take tax dodger and desk rifler , Rick Lopes with him. Good riddance!
Good luck, New Britain, your future is in your hands!
Sen. Donald DeFronzo (D) is joining the administration of Gov.-elect Dan Malloy to assist in following through on Malloy’s promise to reorganize, restructure and consolidate state government,
Sen. DeFronzo will be the new commissioner of the state Department of Administrative Services (DAS)
DeFronzo has been rumored to be joining the Malloy administration since Malloy became the first Democrat in 20 years to win the governor’s seat. Much of the speculation was that he was heading to the state Department of Transportation (DOT).
DeFronzo is currently co-chair of the legislature’s transportation committee. In an address to business leaders last week, Malloy reiterated that he was ready and able to fundamentally change the way the state does business.
DeFronzo seems the perfect choice to help make that happen. Prior to becoming co-chair of the transportation committee, he headed the government administration and elections (GAE) committee.
NB Mayor Tim Stewart, the four-term incumbent in office since 2003, is reportedly close to announcing a run for the state house after a departing Sen. Donald DeFronzo is taking a job with the Malloy Administration. Sen. Defronzo is moving on to help restructure state government by becoming the new commissioner of the state Department of Administrative Services (DAS).
Tim Stewart’s run for DeFronzo's Senator's seat is dependent on whether DeFronzo takes the oath of office as Senator re-elect. Sources think he won’t take the oath office for the senate and takes the appointment first.
A date is yet to be determine for an election to be held for the Senator's seat. The date has to be within 40-45 days of Defronzo’s appointment, which would fall sometime around February.
DeFronzo’s new job would be to oversee the consolidation of the number of commissioners for the state. This includes the Department of Administrative Services, Information Technology and the Department of Public Works. Defronzo would be commissioner of that new consolidated agency.
Currently underway in New Britain is the downtown revitalization effort to build a new police station on Main Street, as well as the 10-mile New Britain to Hartford Busway which has been subject to much criticism by Sen. DeFronzo.
WILL NEW BRITAIN MAYOR TIM STEWART TOSS HIS HAT INTO THE RING AND RUN FOR STATE SENATE TO REPLACE A DEPARTING DON DEFRONZO?
Knowing how radical this new Governor is, I am surprised that he isn't appointing the draft dodger to be commissioner of veteran's affairs.
Trueworthy will probably volunteer to be Tim Stewart's campaign manager because that is the only way he will ever get to sit his butt behind the mayor's desk.
Tim will make a great Senator, but I shudder to think what piece of crap (Democrat) might end up in the mayor's office as a result.
With the list of socialists, communists, crackpots and loons that the new socialist governor is putting in charge of our state, the time is ripe to get the heck out of here and move to a state that actually respects the Constitution, capitalism, and personal liberty.
Because Connecticut is losing a seat in Congress due to the mass exodus of people fleeing the socialism being forced down our throats by the Democrats, is it that Murphy is afraid that his district will be eliminated, so he is running for Senate?
Mayor Stewart will be on "Church and State" with ex-governor John Rowland TODAY at 4:00 pm. WTIC 1080 AM.
