Typically I agree with Michelle Malkin, and I definitely agree with her point that we certainly should not move in the direction of having federally subsidized free internet for the masses.

On the issue of net neutrality she is a bit farther off base. Net neutrality is designed, in part, to prevent a internet service provider (ISP) from limiting user access to certain sections of the internet.

For example it stops a company such as AT&T from blocking access to Comcast sites and services. Or, in another more likely scenario, it would prevent Comcast from throttling speeds for a service such as Netflix while giving unimpeded access to their own Xfinity services.

Since consumer choices with regards to ISPs may be limited, especially in more rural areas, ensuring that all people with internet access are granted unimpeded access to the internet as a whole is definitely in the public interest.
